Not sure if Grumpy Blade is the same Grumpy Blade that posted this elsewhere but...

My Father-in-Law John Spencer passed away on the 22nd and he was a real gentleman. I'll really miss him.

Last match I can remember taking him to was the famous WBA game, spare him a thought on Saturday.

Played a few games in the 50's and always said Hagan was the best. Apparently after every training session Jimmy played keepy up against the old white fench that ran around both pitch and cricket pitch. If the ball hit the ground then Jimmy would start again at the begining and not go in until he'd completed the full curcuit. He must have been special if he was better than Currie.

John's debut was at Everton and he played in a series of FA cup games agaisnt Hudderfield [I think there were 3 replays]. He also captained England school boys - went to Ecclesfield Grammer and came from Stannington.

RIP John

RIP and thoughts to family and friends.

R.I.P
