CONFIRMED Rhian Brewster

Sunderland should rightly enjoy their moment because next season will be abject misery for them. We might have been in a slightly better position but not much and certainly weaker than our 2019 squad that did so well before the unthinkable happened.

Next season’s Championship looks weaker with Leicester also facing a points deduction. Another Championship season on the backs of Seriki, Peck, Brooks and Blaster will give them a better chance of stepping up next time round.

In terms of comings and goings: Hamer will be gone, Brewster is off to the SPL (both said their goodbyes to those fans that remained yesterday).
Who in the SPL will he be heading for?
Scotland or Saudi Arabia?

I find it weird how many people want to sack the lot.
We got 92 points last season.
Probably enough if we can repeat it.

Keep Wilder.
We'll have to sell a few, but I'd trust him with the rebuild

I'd keep Brewster too.
Possibly even Robinson provided he's happy to just be cover on a deal that suits us.

I hear what you’re saying Captain, but Brewster has had 5 years to prove himself and he hasn’t.Giving him another 2 or 3, is throwing good money after bad.
If he was playing for someone else with that scoring and injury record, I don’t think anyone would be excited about the signing.
Sometimes it’s hard to let go, just because you want something to work.It hasn’t so far in 5 years, and his record suggests it won’t.
As for Wilder, a different thread, and a far less easy decision to make.On balance, I’ve got my issues with him, but a stay from me, but he has to change from this go 1 up and sit back and defend routine, which has cost us in the latter part of the season, since Souttar got injured. He should have adjusted accordingly, but didn’t.It’s a game of Russian roulette which works with the lesser teams that don’t take their chances, but with the better teams, there’s always a bullet or 2 in the chamber, as there was on Saturday.

Exactly this, some massive overreactions on this board.

Think back to the start of this season, if someone was predicting we would end up on 92 points before a ball was kicked they would have laughed at by most.

We’ve just had a really good season given the circumstances, evolution rather than revolution.

On the right terms, he deserves another 12 months IMO. The fact he’s become a player who can actually get on the pitch and perform decently in a championship side, on a semi-regular basis is a plus in what has otherwise been a pretty dismal spell here.
He's become a fairly reliable average championship player, so I'd probably offer him a squad player 2 year contract. I certainly wouldn't be offering him decent money.

Keeping Brewster would be a backwards step, imo. We're playing him in a position he can't play very well when we could literally replace him with someone better in said position.

As a squad player in the 10
Behind a forward - yes. In reasonable money. He’s looks decent there at times. Coventry in particular.

As a winger - nah. Doesn’t effect games out wide

Who had the vision to pass the ball to Hamer for our goal V Sunderland.
That surely is conclusive evidence that he's a top Championship winger.

I'm not saying he's a bad Championship player. I'm saying he's being expected to play out of position and do things that don't come natural to him and we could literally sign someone who can play in that position naturally. He's not good enough. He's not good enough if we were to go up. 4 goals and 3 assists in 39 games. He also has a history of bad injuries.
