In the last game of their mini-tour of Scotland, David Weir’s Blades side travelled to Stark’s Park – the home of Raith Rovers.

In the evening sunshine in Kirkcaldy, kick off was delayed until 19:45 due to traffic congestion on the Forth Road Bridge.

The home side got the fixture underway and immediately went on the attack, looking to pressure the Blades defence in and around their own penalty area.
The Blades rear-guard coped with the early pressure and it was United who managed to get the first real effort on target, Murphy’s long range effort being beaten away to safety after cutting in from the left.....

Seemed to be lots of attempts by Murphy (via twitter feed) hoping Weit can get the best out of him.

macdonald on penalty duty? interesting, glad he scored. im hoping murphy can bang them in this yr.

Re-read, it wasn't a penalty, it was a cross cut back TOWARDS the penalty spot :)

ooops lazy reading sorry foxy!

who is gonna take pens I wonder?

I assume McMahon might when hes fit?

I seem to remember Collins being good at penalties. Porter too.

We should really have a penalty specialist. One on whom we can rely in the ultimate high-pressure situations. If he runs around like Norman Wisdom and makes Jordan Stewart look good, so much the better.

I watched the game on the feed from Raith last night and I have to say I was pleasently suprised. We moved the ball round well and passed it out from the back instead of looking for the aimless punt. McDonald looked good in a more advanced role and a lot of the play was through him. Murphy looked sharp, (maybe it was the Scottish air?) as did McFadzean, in fact most put in a decent shift. Kayara looked a decent shout too.

Quitly optimistic!

We should be allowed to sub one on and off like in Gridiron.

I was there. Looked ok. Were doing a lot of short passing. Little triangles. At times trying to pass it too much.

Murphy looked better when he was in central positions but he was on the left again. I think if he plays upfront, he'll score goals.

Not enough crosses went into the box and McDonald didnt play enough through balls when Porter was making some great runs, but McD always goes sideways.

6/10 - Room for improvement. 2nd half was a nonsense, changed about 9 players

That Reading kid, Blackman isn't bad at penalties i've heard.

Sorry if posted elsewhere.

Two very well-worked goals, and a cracking finish from Murphy - more of that please.

How nice to also see a website offering decent free content like this in a no-nonsense way, rather than our official website that contrives to offer its year-on-year mediocrity.

Observations:

1. Less hoof. More 'on-the-deck', which is good to see, although we still don't look comfortable doing it.

2. Shooting - piss-poor. 192 square feet of goal, lads. Make the fucking keeper work for it, eh?

3. Looks like we were fortunate to come away with a draw.

4. Their goal, avoidable.

We won't be playing like that on the Bramall lane surface come january.

Watched on the link and good to see us knocking the ball around on the deck.
Thought the 5 man midfield worked ok..we moved the ball quickly, linked up well..the 4 'M's behind Porter all got in support.
The Full backs pushed on,did ok apart from Williams over hit one or two crosses and Westlake looked like he let his man get in behind for their goal.
Pleased with what I saw of Mcginn...looked neat and tidy, and linked up well....did well set up Murphy for a good chance, but shot into side netting if I remember right.
All the young lads fitted in well, and I thought Jamahl Smith played well when he came on in midfield....let's hope Hodder is the next one through from the Right Back factory production line.
One thing I noticed,we looked far less pedestrian...moving the ball quickly, but with players running with the ball aswell.
That lad Kayara didn't look bad either....Maybe if we can get another striker in and Miller and Diego back,we'll be a decent outfit in this division. UTB!
