Been to the Stadium of Light today ,seen a great game of football with 2 commited and very skilfull attacking teams in front of 42,000 enthusiastic fans. What a world of difference. Talking to Sunderland fans they reckon Reid is just building up his fitness and he and the brilliant Malbranque will be competing for the creative role with Cattermole in their midfield. They also think Nosworthy (who they rate very highly ,much better that Kilgallon) will soon be recalled as both Mensah and Onouha are injured leaving Bramble and Ferdinand as their centre halves.
Stayed in the Seaburn hotel last night ,and the Blackpool team also stayed ,they looked a very young ,small group with DJ Campbell the obvious team joker and very few of them recognisable faces. Tried to blag a couple of tickets but all their allocation was taken up, even tried David Carney but he is the probably the most miserable twat I have ever met.
Today they played with a freedom unrecognisable with Sheff Utd home or away ,2 wingers glued to the touchline and never more than 6 behind the ball. Admittedly they got lucky even with a joke keeper and Bent missing a hatfull ,but they were so refreshing to watch. Mathew Phillips a 300k signing from Wycombe and Danny Welbeck were the outstanding players on the pitch.
