It was obvious to me yesterday that we didn't get a definite penalty because the ref didn't give Fulham a penalty in the 1st half!
This happens a lot in my experience and surely each penalty claim should be judged at the time and we would have been awarded a penalty if Fulham had been given 1 earlier in the game.
This also happens regarding red cards during games when refs tend to even things out 1 way or another!
We should have been awarded a penalty and probably would have won the game if going 2-0 up at that point!
What do you think?

You'll never prove it, the ref consistently missed two pens, but can't know if he was evening things up or if he just missed them both.

He correctly saw Doyles kick at their player and took the right action

His view of the Flynn incident was seemingly excellent, can't recall his view of the Rodallega one.

If it helps, Alan Green and whoever his partner in crime was on R5L thought the Rodallega one wasnt a penalty, but the Flynn one was...

Looks like he was well behind the play for the Fulham shout..looked like Rodillaga moved his left foot to make sure of contact, but I would say it was a Penalty...If it was..Would George have got away with a sending off by the fact we had a covering Defender?
Flynn's was a Stonewaller though, right in front of the Ref.

and he would have given it if the earlier pen claim by Fulham hadn't been waved away!

All of this bollocks "there was contact" is a load of crap to me. Players going down after feeling the slightest touch just goes to show where the sport is going. Rodallega took a poor touch and lost a goal scoring opportunity, even if he hurdled Long it is quite evidently clear that Doyle had already taken the ball away from him. Long isn't just going to allow Rodallega to run past him is he? Hate the fact that football is turning into a non contact sport.

There's a suspicion of offside for Rodillaga looking at the video for their shout.

At the end of the day Andre Marinner is adjudged to be one of the best referees that this country has to offer, he is a week in week out top flight ref and also regularly officiates in Europe therefore you expect certain standards from him. I would say the F.A now have to look at both of the penalties and start asking questions as to why he missed them or failed to give them at least. The TV cameras show that the referee and assistant referees were in perfect positions to clearly view both incidents and for whatever reason they failed to act on them and yes of course I am glad that Long got away with it but at the same time I am sickened that Hughes got away with it for them.

In my opinion both were penalties, I've seen them both back on TV now and both are stone wall and it's ok saying that at that particular point in the game we could have gone 2-0 and game over etc but in the first one long could have been made to walk, we could have gone behind and overall had been in shit street.

For me there has been a great deal made of refereeing decisions this year which is mainly down to diving which is an epidemic in the top flight. For me refs don't want to give penalties any more and whether this is down to the fear of it all because they don't want to be involved in any dive headlines I don't know but I think it is ruining the game as a whole now.

They have to investigate the ref now and ask why he made his decisions because if this is an example of the finest refereeing in this country then we all have to fear for the future.

If anyone doesn't believe in evening things out then they're bonkers.

If you get a penalty, you can expect to get nothing else for the rest of the game (remember Colchester last season, we got a pen 3rd minute, and then an absolutely blatant one 5 minutes later wasn't given?).

Similarly, Mr Stroud's memorable performance against Brentford last season shows how desperate ref's are to ensure they give approximately 50% of decisions each way.

I still want to grab that little shit by the throat when I think of that game, or see his face on a TV game.
