When we lost McDonald I had mixed emotions. I was gutted that we lost a talented midfielder who we had gambled on, nurtured and turned into a great player for this league. At the same time however it was obvious when his loyalty was and as soon as I knew he wanted to go that was the nail in the coffin for me because if a player doesn't want to play for the club then they shouldn't be at the club.

Young Reed was scarily good tonight again. Easily the stand out player and a different class. Everything from his positioning, his control and first touch, his vision and passing, shooting on sight, getting back to defend and mopped up pressure.....the list is endless.

McDonald was good but for me young Reed is the complete package and is already looking far more capable than McDonald.

Let's hope no one noticed.

Needs to start getting on the score sheet but I hope you're right.

He was excellent but not 'easily the stand out player'. It's a shame to say that really on a night for 11 heroes. If there was anyone slightly outstanding above the rest, however, it was the impeccable, stylish Basham.
My thoughts exactly Pinchy. All 11 were superb, but if my hand was forced to pick a MOM, Basham for me, he was imperious! Bobby H ran him a close second too.
Lets hope this board is in a similar mood come Saturday evening :-)

Harris for me followed closely by Bash but on the Reed OP by Peakers it's probably a bit of license as the lad is only 17 and never looks fazed.

Contrast that with young Che - I thought he looked very nervous at the start (well he would wouldn't he) and he tried hardest not to fuck up or be out of a covering position - as the half progressed he grew into it and made some telling contributions - not least keeping the ball in play and holding off two defenders to set up the Doyle chance that Forster tipped over the bar. What a game to make your début in, though - something the lad will never, ever, forget :)

On Reedy - I am rapidly forming an opinion that he could be the best quality player the SUFC academy has ever produced because if he can continue in this vein he will have a glittering career ahead of him.

I think all the back four was excellent last night please can we have the same line up Saturday.

Reed will become a better play than Mcdonald and I also agree that Reed is one of the most technically gifted players our Academy has produced BUT I have to disagree that he "pee's" all over McDonald.

McDonald was one of the best players we have had in recent years, when we lost him we shot down the table. He had strength, height and was one of the main reasons Evans scored the amount of goals he did. Lets not put to much pressure on Reed, Clough seems to be using him correctly at the moment.

Let's just hope he's our next "hero" and we get a few years service before the board try to cash in.....

Wonder if his agent will get him out as quickly and cheaply as kmacs did

I wasn't convinced til I saw the word FACT in the title, must be true then.........:o)

lets not get too carried away about Reed, he's a v young lad, McDonald is a tough act to follow. Im very hopeful tho.

Love Reedy and his composure on the ball. I hope he develops as we want him too.

Personally I would start him in all games from now on until he needs a rest. We usually look a better side when he's playing, nearly always a good outlet who will use the ball sensibly.

What a diamond in the making.

We need to make use of him before he's sold in the summer!

Sounds like if he carry on playing like he is he will be guaranted a place on the bench
