DDG needs to take note of this - but then he's already made it for the Azzurri, I guess o_O

Every youngster should use Louis Reed as the blueprint for how to make it.

Makes you proud really how he conducts himself, both on and off the pitch.

Early days for Reed I think. He does seem to act respectfully to those who've mentored him, but I'd suggest that Jagielka would be a better example of a player who's risen through the ranks, moved to a club far higher up the league than the one he first began his career with, and has remained remarkably stain-free. I can't recall a time when Jags has gone off the rails, acted foolishly, or considered himself to be anything other than what he is, a decent, competent defender whose consistency has provided him with a great life.

Being pedantic, was Jagielka a true product of the academy? Didn't he begin elsewhere?

As far as I can recall (although there are far more knowledgeable minds who'll know for sure), Jags came through our youth ranks, eventually securing a position in the first team. To all intents he was one of 'ours' I think.

I think (might be wrong) that we signed Jagielka and Tonge after they were released aged about 14 by one of the Manchester clubs - think it was City.

EDIT: according to Wikipedia, Jagielka was in Everton's academy and Tonge came from Man United.
