Fulham looked a real quality outfit in midfield and up front to me. The lad Cairney is quality and Sessignon is a level above, should be at a top half premiership. I thought their wide strikers caused us problems pulling two wide centre halves out towards the flanks. They also countered well with explosive pace. Defensively they are ordinary.
Lundstram did OK but needs to work on his positioning and move the ball quicker. In the second half he dropped deeper to collect the ball and start the play. But overall he just seemed to float around and wasn’t available for the ball. He’ll have easier opposition than Fulham to play against though. Carruthers was superb when he came on, did really well with his direct running on the ball.
A few players weren’t completely at it today. Need to raise the performance levels. Whilst Coutts is out, we still miss Freeman / Baldock and they’ll make a big difference. Basham struggled to keep up with Sessignon.
The officiating was abysmal, but Fulham’s time wasting was worse. It started at the end of the first half and continued in earnest 60 minutes onwards.
Game could’ve gone either way, if we get rid of the 2-3 key mistakes we win this game 9 out of 10.
