With the (possible) exception of James Beattie (first time) Billy is simply the most natural and instinctive goalscorer I've seen playReply for us in my time at the lane. He might not be as quick as he once was (he was never Usain Bolt to be fair) but if you give him the ball in the box, there is a more than decent chance it'll end up in the back of the net. Fact is, it would cost millions to buy another player with his poaching and goalscoring ability and record.

...and even then...

I saw the highlights of Derby v Leeds last weekend. A great, low cross was played in to £8m Martyn Waghorn who arrived a couple of yards late. I thought 'I bet Billy would have got on the end of that.' To date, here's their latest stats:

So Billy has scored 206 goals in 475 apps. Quite remarkable.

the art of finishing is being grossly overlooked when talking about billy

are there more skillful place, certainly

but football is all about goals, and Billy is the grand master of the vital last but key component, finishing it off

hence he is worth his place as he turns draws into wins and losses into draws
theres very few who can guarentee tucking it away on a regular basis

Those club-by-club stats illustrate his strike rate perfectly. Other than his early spells with us, 9 in 16, 53 in 82, 15 in 33, 25 in 49. It's a goal every other game, consistently. He's a real asset and we're lucky he's a Blade, or I suspect he would still be playing elsewhere, as he could undoubtedly still command a higher wage than we're paying him.

Watching football on quest last night. ( still complete bollocks by the way).
Ian Holloway was saying how billy is always in the right space at the right time and is a proven goal poacher.
Billy’s stats are just unreal. He’s pure class. Enough said. UTB

When you look at some of the money strikers go for and some of the one season wonders kicking about, it absolutely baffles me that he's never commanded big transfer fees or had a run at a lower premiership team.

He'd do what he does in any team at any level.
