What's your memory of the earlier 70s?

Good. I was at school. We went on holiday every year for the first time ever. My dad had more money. There was a feeling of progress and some prosperity. The music was great. Blades were doing great. The workers began to try to get some real power through direct action and trade unions. The bosses and capitalism, through their figurehead Thatcher, didn't like this, and that bunch of crooks, together with the 1973 oil crisis (which could have been better managed by the west), ultimately screwed it for everyone but themselves. I'm not naive, there were strikes and industrial unrest, but don't believe all the crap you see on these cheap documentaries about it being wall to wall strikes, power cuts unburied bodies - the reality just wasn't like that!
