It seems to have been ages since the last one of these Roy so it's good that normal service has been resumed. Cheers Roy, appreciated as always mate:)

Thanks yet again Roy always look for your post before and after the game. I see they state that their away form is better than their home form. Well that’s Cloghie for you tries to prevent a loss at home rather than going for the win at home. I think he will find out how you can actually start out to win a game as Chris won’t change the approach. I do expect a convincing win by us without taking anything for granted. UTB FTP

I was in a pub this week and ran into former Blade Lyle Taylor, and had a conversation with him about his time at t'Lane under Clough among other things.

He said that Clough arrived with a reputation for having no time for Black players and he felt completely frozen out by Clough. Also said that 3 of the United players of the time were openly racist, and a couple of others were kind of in same clique so were unpleasant to him (without being racist) because their mates didn't like him.

He seemed to still have affection for the club, though was obviously sad about how it all went, and was massively impressed with us last season, said that Bramall Lane was like a different place to those days (which we all know). He also spoke very positively about George Long who he said has been fantastic for AFCW. Seemed a nice guy, intelligent and opinionated, and suspect he'll be leaving Wimbledon for better things either in transfer window or next summer.

Hanson mentioned first in the appraisal of our forward options, hopefully the Burton coaching staff have not bothered doing their homework either.

They don't need to do homework.

Their approach will no doubt be the same for every game. 'Keep it tight until half time' followed by the half time teamtalk 'keep it tight, make sure you keep the point you started with.'

Interesting stuff but not the first time such comments have been made.

The same comments were made by the same player to a friend of mine just after he left. My friend asked why he didn't complain and he said he and the other black players just wanted to get out for the sake of their careers. He said one young player was very effected by the supposed racism.

Let's not forget that's only one man's side of the story though and you do have to ask why Clough would have bought the likes of JCR, O'Grady and Sordell if he did have an issue with race.

"Realistically – A loss is expected. But, you never know, Sheffield seem to falter away from home (a little…), and we have managed to look much better in the past 3 games."

Could that be the other 'Sheffield'? They are crap away from home as well as at home.

Perhaps if there were some way of differentiating between us we could avoid this confusion?

If only we had suffixes to our names that helped explain how we were formed from a cricket and football team, or the other lot who were formed on Woden's day.

I had my suspicions. Same with foreign players. But he seems to have allayed any suspicion with the likes of Dyer, Sordell and Akpan. Maybe he had to.

I've heard this a lot, granted always second-hand. But it strikes me as utterly bizarre. It's the best part of 20 years ago since Carl Asaba was abused by that Reading player - I forget his name - but he was mortified. It's obviously awful for any player to have gone through this, but why on earth would it be allowed to happen? Both from a moral and a practical sense of building a cohesive player.

Luckily Chris Wilder only discriminates against people who can drink more Peroni than him, which is nobody.
