Thanks Roy 👍

“In last 30 years or so I think the 9000 we took to sheff utd in the cup would be our best outside of wembley. I remember it well. “

I don't! anyone enlighten me?
I remember it well. They had all the away end and A block in South Stand for some reason. They never shut up all game , well until we scored two late goals to get a draw we didn't deserve.
In the replay Deane was back and we were a different beast, he scored a hat trick and we won 4-2.

Thanks for that 👍 Although I still don't remember it  If was during the Deane era, then I must have been there.

Probably 1993, where Adrian Littlejohn got sent off for fighting with Adrian Heath. We drew 2-2 and won the replay 4-2.

At that time, Burnley were on the way down and ended up in danger of going out of the league, with a last day win in 1987 v Orient saving them if I recall.

Who needs Silent Blade? :)

Actually, I’ve just remembered, Adrian Heath got me tickets for the replay, I worked with one of his best mates and he sorted some out, corporate I think, which probably meant pie and pies with a light ale at Turf Moor.

The view from before the season, if I remember rightly the Burnley fans were a set of arrogant twats. That was eminently reasonable

2-2

Thanks Roy 👍

That replay was a pain to get to and plenty didn't make it due to the snow and ice.

We got in just as Burnley opened the scoring but Deano's hat trick (twice in a week he managed) put paid to that.

Remember plenty of racist abuse aimed at Littlejohn too that night. When he scored and did his gun toting celebration in their direction they surged down the terrace.

Apparently someone got hurt and the FA were more interested in charging AL with inciting the crowd than the racism he endured.

“If we lose to Sheff Utd on Saturday and make it 3 in a row, I’ll drive Dyche to bloody Morecambe myself!!!!”

Tha what?

What, no butter pie?

Burnley played very well that day 2 up and time running out for us, I think it was early in Burnleys re-incarnation after being close to going out of the league.

I was on the John St terrace that night, Kop side. I think Paul Beesley scored the equaliser at the death, went mental!

I wish people would stop calling this a Championship squad & one that "lacks quality." Total bollocks.

It's a bullshit lazy quote because we're using players who were in last season's side and who haven't played in the all-singing-all-dancing Premier League before.

It's just as easy to say that Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes (and a few more in Burnley's team) are "Championship" players. Except they're not, at least not any more.

Give it till the end of the season and, if we're safe, they won't be calling them "Championship" any longer.

Seem to remember that there was traffic problems for the Blades in getting to the replay. There was only about 1000 Blades at kick off but more like 4000 for start of second half.

I’d forgotten that, but I started out from Stoke, so straight up the M6, M65, so not affected by those problems (although I was obviously concerned for my delayed fellow Blades :)

There are currently quite a few “small” clubs in the Prem punching well above their weight. For me Burnley are one of those clubs. Compared to us; we have larger stadium, larger crowds and massive local rivals who are also punching well above their weight 😀

Always had a dislike for them since the Stan Ternant Vs Neil Warnock sagas.

Didnt Stan Ternant accuse Kevin Blackwell if listening into their team talk os something when he was assistant to NW?

Thanks Roy 👍
