Pre-Match Analysis?

Serious question here - but how much analysis do our backroom staff & players do on the opposition - or are we that far up our own arses we don't care? Today is a perfect example, I said to my lad pre-match..........is that Nick Powell playing?, as he looked a good player @ BDTBL. No he said..........well that just leaves Joe Allen as their main man then?................fuck me, he could have smoked a cigar on that pitch today he had so much time & space. I know in my limited amateur career & over 35's/over 45's - who needs watching/nobbling in the opposition ranks - why are our own players/backroom staff so blinkered/ignorant to who they are up against?
