Switched Talksport on in the car and in the pre match discussion the pundit ( dont know who but ex Pompey I think) was singing the praises of Bass the Pompey keeper who came through their academy.

He said Sheffield United have been watching him as a replacement for Henderson if he goes back to Man U in the summer.

10 mins in and hasnt had to do anything yet but might be worth keeping an eye on

Yeah, from pompy to starting the prem, I believe we will be aiming a bit higher, but, after OGS praise of DeGea today, and saying he only wants Henderson back as compatition for him, I'd like to know Henderson's thoughts.

I think a lot gets read into the comments.

Monk is having the same problem.

It's difficult to be too open about the summer plans when you still need to win matches in the here and now.

Suppose OGS said "I expect Deano to be back next year and as far as I'm concerned he'll be my number one."

How exactly as you going to get the best from DDG? I don't see how any manager handles the question any differently.

At Wednesday, he's stated that 'people know what needs to happen' which is as close to saying there needs to be a mass clear out. He's also opened contract talks and mentioned openly he'd like Fletcher and Fox to extend their stay.

Without being so brutal in the press about it, it's pretty obvious he's relatively indifferent if the other douzen out of contract players clear out their lockers on 30th June. But he's not going to say that. He needs a Forestieri, a Nuhiu, etc to still put the effort in from now until the season's end.

I wouldn't read too much into manager comments.
