A dozen of the players part of the Sheffield United squad relegated from the Premiership in 2007 are reportedly considering suing West Ham over the Carlos Tevez affair.

The London club are facing an unprecedented compensation fee of around £30m after an independent tribunal ruled that the illegally-registered Tevez was worth three points to their successful fight against relegation at the Blades' expense.

According to The Guardian, 'At least 10 players, including the captain Chris Morgan, have sought legal advice' and are preparing to sue for loss of earnings.

'Given the various cuts to bonuses and pay negotiated in the individual contracts it is not known what the total claim against West Ham from the players would be, but it would be a significant addition to the fine of up to £30m that the Hammers will have to pay Sheffield United,' the newspaper declares.

Do you think we can sue for lack of a cheap season ticket? :)

Morgs ought to be thanking them :), would he have been guaranteed to be even staying at the club if we'd stayed up? never mind keeping his captaincy?

I don't blame the players for claiming to be honest.

We could be talking maybe 5k a week, which over a year is 260k, so why shouldn't they look to claim it back?

However, I don't see how they can claim it off the Hammers, if the Blades are getting re-imbursed for their losses in the PL, surely it should be us paying the extra wage.

i think the players would stand more chance if the made a combined claim rather than many singular claims.

The only issue with that is the confidentiality of players wages etc

Oh my god, this is opening up a right can of worms.

The Green un could sue them cos they would have shifted more copies if they were reporting on a PL team.

SUFC are asking for money for lost revenue on items such as match programmes, shirts etc. What about the people who produce these things? Are they gonna want their two pennorth?

That's not as daft as it sounds.

It's so funny.

They cheated again but because they were punished (very softly) the first time around then it shouldn't matter.

Big bad Sheffield United in the wrong again...

The mainly annoying quote is:

The rest of the story is here:

Does nobody actually recall who brought all this around by cheating?
I wasn't having a great day yesterday and I knew that if I read that article it would've made my blood boil. Having had another look at the thread this morning I went against my better judgment and just read it. My good God. I want a fight.

I think they should sue for their lost wages, why not its a consequential loss.

If someone cheated your work place out of a vital contract and you were forced to take a pay cut through being on short hours as a result, would you really not want your work place to reclaim your lost wages on your behalf?

Of course, but try telling that to the journos and West Ham fans :)

We're just the nasty Northern brutes ruining football.
