With four players having gone in the transfer window, either sold or loaned, what will we miss from them?

David Carney

He looked too flimsy, and although he played for his country he didn't look like he could pull a greasy stick out of a pig's arse when he played for us. I don't think we will miss him in any way.

Brian Howard

He could have been a really good addition to our midfield, but didn't show much of the promise he did at Barnsley. He had plenty of opportunities, but didn't do anywhere enough to justify keeping him.

Lee Hendrie

Of the Robson signings Hendrie was the player I was most excited about. He really was a quality player during his time at Villa, and could easily have played more internationals than he did. However he didn't do well for us at all, despite brief flashes of his class. He may have been petulant, but when he came back from his loan spell at Blackpool I thought he would become an important part of the team. Could have become a modern legend. Failed.

Billy Sharp

Ah, Billy, Billy, Billy. How we all wanted him to bang them in by the hatful, and how we were all disappointed. We thought he'd got his shooting boots back after his hat-trick against QPR, but sadly it wasn't to be. He was the player we all wanted to succeed, because he was one of us. I hope his loan spell at Donny works out, and I hope that next season he will be back in a Blades shirt scoring loads. Perhaps the style of play at Donny will suit him more than ours did.

Throw in Bromby as well, and we have got rid of five very average players who all probably were on good wages. Hopefully it will allow us to bring in younger, fitter, more athletic players who have something to add, even if they don't all become regulars.

Didn't we bring bromby in for free??

Sold on for 300k???

You could argue that none of the players played consistently enough to be a loss and all it does is weaken the reserves and the bench as it stands.

My concern, as ever, is that apart from Harper, the 1st team, Blackwell's first choice XI hasn't been improved and if we do get any injuries, and when the suspensions start kicking in, we'll miss the likes of Bromby, Billy and Howard.

Having said that, it sounded like the loan market was always going to be used and there are still targets in place so we'll see what happens in the next week or so.

Thought I read we paid 400k for him?

I think having the likes of Howard and Sharp in the squad meant that they were bound to get playing time here and there, and as I don't rate either, it feels like a relief to see them go. Of course we're getting loan players in, preferably loan players that we are hoping to make permanent when we can.

Add Haber to the list and I think Blackwell has done really well to move this little lot on. Maybe we'll now see what he's really made of, as with the size of squad we are left with he has left himself no option but to enter the loan market for at least 3 players.
