following the closure of the transfer window, I'm still reading the usual posts about needing "pace".
Got me thinking, those pace yearners amongst you....
You want someone lightening quick, fair enough. when he gets to the oppositions box, what does he do? Apparently we don't have any pace, so he either waits for everyone else (including defenders) to catch up. Thus defeating the point really. Or he goes it alone, Michael Owen style (cost?)
So do we really need 3/4/5 players with pace, ala Man U when they had Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Cole, Yorke etc all maurauding forward. (Again cost?)

What I'm hearing is we want a forward (£1mil), with pace (another £1mil), 15+ goals a season (£5m).
Then Wilder demands hard work/trackback, no ego etc (£2m) total around £9m? = Asambalonga?
We all want players not on their way down collecting a pay cheque, and no big name Charlie's (piggy style)

So in summary that's a level headed hard working quick forward, with no ego, can get 15 goals a season and won't break the wage structure and destabilise the dressing room. Around £10k per week?
Suggestions below please.

It's not just pace, it's trickery, & willingness to commit defenders/take them on/create at this sort of level.

Take Knockaert last year for Brighton as a prime example - the ability to crack open a tight game between well-matched sides, via individual flair.

But maybe Brooksy's the key here?

Like others have said, the fact he's still here is the main positive.

And zero excuses for selling him in January either now (bearing in mind Fleetwood's tenacity in keeping Cole, Southend's keeping Leonard, Liverpool's keeping Coutinho, Arsenal's keeping Sanchez, etc., etc.)

Lets be honest, we're basically after Messi.
Only he wouldn't get in because he's not big enough.

Ronaldo would be good.
Although at 32 he's probably too old.

All hail Brooksy!!!!

Glen Little is probably the slowest player I've ever seen, yet he beat his man every time. It was quite surreal to watch.

The whole pace thing is bullshit for the most part. We claim to not have any real pace, but I've heard Barnsley and Derby fans comment on how they struggled to deal with our speed going forward. This is because of how good we are with the ball.

The way we play means that we aren't reliant on having out and out pace. We aren't even slow, Brooks, JOC, Basham, Duffy, Carruthers, all of our full backs, Lavery, Ched, Sharp, even Coutts. These aren't slow over a few yards, how many times have we seen Coutts, who many call the slowest of all accelerate past players and leave them standing?

We're technically a very good side, and we have more than enough athleticism to compete, as we've shown.

was it Clough (the good one) who said no one's faster than the ball?

Adam Armstrong would've been brilliant for us but somehow Notlob managed to pick him up on loan.
