Moore - 7.5
Had barely anything to do all game we were that dominant. Then makes a cracking save 1 on 1. Sign of a very good keeper. Kicking a tad mixed.

O'Connell - 8
Seemed to win pretty much everthing thay came his way with some good blocks too. Great header down from Duffys free kick for Sharp's offside goal (which was debatable).

Jake Wright - 7
Clearly the least comfortable on the ball but he knows it and so doesn't try anything he knows he cant do. Again seemed to win the majority of his aerial duels and shifted back 3 around well.

Ebanks-Landell - 9 (MOM)
Absolute rock. So imposing both in the air but also so good at getting a foot in when strikers have their back to him, nearly always seems to win it which then sets us on the counter. Great header for first goal, my god have we missed a cb like him!

Lafferty - 6.5
A few loose passes which people may have grumbled about. But overall fairly solid, can't recall him getting beaten too many times and is obviously a better defender than hussey, if not slightly worse going forward.

Freeman - 7.5
Again in the second half played a few loose balls forwards, but again another good solid performance. Fantastic slide tackle in the first 10mins at 0-0 which probably saved a goal. Brayford who? Some decent forrays forward as usual.

Coutts - 8.5
The usual coutts of this season, calmness personified and a huge factor behind Vale hardly having the ball. Massive smile on my face when their winger ran down our right channel first half and he ran about 50yards back to win the ball back near our corner. Imagine him doing that last season?! Had a shot today as well, more of the same please.

Fleck - 8.5
Thought his best game for us so far comforably. Some lovely touches and turns on the ball, always positive with forward passes. Absolute joke that his deflected striked was disallowed when linesman initially gave it along with ref. But him and coutts ran the show today.

Duffy - 8
I've though for a bit now if he had more pace he'd be a top top player. So quick to turn on the ball and shift it. Was always looking for it again today and again trying to go forwards and make something happen. Pressed hard too and deserved his goal. Will be a big player for us this year I think.

Done - 8.5
Typical done today bags of running, forcing the opposition into mistakes and hashed clearances all game. Some intelligent runs behind and a couple of great balls across the box where no one gambled. Unlucky to have 2 disallowed but the flags went up particularly early on those 2 so would have to see them back.

Sharp - 6.5
Just thought he was the least involved today. Don't think he played badly as he held it up well on a few occasions but the ball just didn't seem to be coming his way as much as Done. His day was summed up by his shot which Duffy converted and then the free kick tap in which I thought was very dodgy, again would like to see back.

Subs:
Hussey 6 - A few good balls forward, good cross which led to Scougalls goal.
Chapman 6.5 - Some good runs and a great strike which was top corner bound, good save from the keeper.
Scougall 7.5 - His busy self and you know when Scougall scores a header that it's been a good day.

Overall best performance I've seen in a long time, could have pasted a team above us 6 or 7 - 0 and it would have been fully justified. Starting to get a very good feeling about this year now!

Superbladesman7 Nice review, it's always too easy to give everybody an 8 or more when the team has played well

For me Lafferty played better than Freeman and Sharp did better than 6.5. Sharps hold up play second half was reminiscent of last last season and he was unlucky to not be on the score sheet.

Coutts - 8.5

Yep, a real pointer. If I'd have been eating corn flakes I'd have spat 'em out.

He's never going to be a real ball winner, but that desire's been missing from his game. Wilder demands nothing less and credit to Coutts for stepping up this season season.

Fleck was absolutely outstanding. Nobody in the team lower than a 7
