Tokenism, but at least it makes the bigwigs at the EPL think they are doing something.

If anything, online abuse has probably worsened since we were first to take the knee at Villa in 2020, but let's carry on really hurting the racists with this 'powerful message'.

You'd want rainbow laces to show a real commitment to fighting gender discrimination.

Much the same as joining the International Brigade in 1936 and going to fight Franco's Fascists, well, sort of....

I just hope there isn't a schedule clash with the "Loads Of Room for Racism" campaign, whereby players will be performing the Nazi salute and shouting "Sieg Heil" before the whistle. Maybe they can move that to Sunday.

But fuck it, let's run a whole gamut of vacuous, perfunctory compelled gestures since we're on a roll.

Do a rain-dance to fight climate change.

Do a handstand to fight homophobia.

Dance the fucking Can-can to save the Siberian tiger.

Then all the world's ills will be solved.
