I thought at the time, and haven't changed my mind, that it was a very measured response from shorehamview as he's normally far more strident than that. Note the minimal amount of sweary words and the lack of threats to the posters bodily orifices. A commendably restrained posting!

The on pitch mascot thing was imported from American sports starting sometime in the 80s. Prior to that some clubs had what we would now call a mascot as a sort of emblem representing the club, Bertie was highly appropriate for The Blades. When the on pitch stuff started the club decided on something more up-to-date and appealing to kids

Dint have dressed up fuckin mascots in them days. Team ran out 5 to 3, had a kick about till 3 the on wit game. Brilliant. Got Green un at 6 and on front page was a little cartoon of the games. Bertie Blade was our cartoon character. Can't remember the pig one.

Ten years ago the lad in question could never be bothered to actually use his internet access for anything other than asking us on here to do his searches for him, or so my memory seems to recall. He's lucky he got away so lightly, but if you want to be offended at something I posted on the 6th of July 2007 then don't let me stop you from getting as much sand in your fanny as you want to.There are probably more incidents over the 11-plus years I've been on here. He was, i met him at my 1st ever game v swansea in 87 i think it was. We won 5-1. My mum got free tickets and we met him upstairs in the south stand where he gave out bassetts sweets.Never saw him again though.

My first memory of our team is when my grandma tried to haul over to the dark side and promised me a badge. My dad quickly made sure I was brought up correctly and gave me a bertie blade enamel badge.
