Just had a look on OwlsTalk - something I do from time to time when I need cheering up - and it did the trick OK. But it is weirdly familiar...

Debates about whether the manager should be sacked (most think he should)

Debates about whether the chairman should be hounded out (most think he shouldn't)

Debates about a central defender who's under-performing because he wants away for more money (and whether it's wrong to boo him, or whether it's the right of fans who pay to watch highly paid professionals... etc etc)

Debates about whether the atmosphere at home games is atrocious, or merely poor (with the odd bid for "it's not bad considering how diabolical the performances are")

Debates about why there are plans to expand the ground when they can't fill the current one

General doom and gloom and mutterings of 'chucking it all in'.

A parallel universe on the other side of the city then? I'd swap managers - but not a lot else...

Most think Laws should be sacked? That does surprise me.

Laws has had sod all to spend, and look were they sit in the table currently!

I was genuinely shocked at the number of people who want Laws out. It's not just a lunatic fringe - it's the majority (maybe a lunatic majority, this being Wednesday fans, but you know what I mean).

He's done a good job so far with what he's got, and he's got a good record as a manager - which suggests he has the ability to keep taking them forward. One reason for my lack of patience with Blackwell is that he doesn't have a record of improving a team in the medium/long term. There's nothing to suggest to me that the gradual deterioration is short-term pain which will bring long-term gain. If it was (say) Martin O'Neill in charge, I'd be prepared to put up with a much bigger and longer dip (even including relegation), in the belief that his track record suggests he'll get it right given time.

Maybe that's unfair, but Laws can point at his track record and say "this suggests I'm a good manager". I'm not sure that Blackwell can.
