Paddy's Hearing appeal

bad news. Not that I've any sympathy for Kenny, but you realise what you've lost when it's gone. If it's true what I'm told, Bunn's contract states that he HAS to play whilst he's with us, unless injured. I think this situation alone renders this season a washout.

Sadly, I hope we aren't still paying him and don't give Kenny another contract as a reward for his utter stupidity.

Here it is in full.

An Appeal Board has reached its decision in an appeal brought by Paddy Kenny in relation a breach of doping regulations.

The Sheffield United goalkeeper appealed against the sanction awarded by the Commission.

The appeal was dismissed.

The Appeal Board stated: "The Appeal Board dismissed the appeal by Mr Paddy Kenny against his nine month suspension for a breach of The FA doping regulations.

"The Regulatory Commission's decision to impose a nine month suspension was an appropriate measure of the seriousness of the offence."

It could well be the end for him. With hindsight I bet he cant believe what an unbelievable prat he was in taking the medicine without seeking medical advice from the club. It is a harsh sentance though.

The conspiracy theory of course is that its another attempt by the FA to have a go at the Blades for showing them up over the 'Affair'.

I'd be relieved that in such a cut-and-dried case he didn't get extra suspension time tacked onto his punishment. Completely frivolous appeal, and one that could perhaps have kept the manager away from the team on the day they're supposed to be playing an important game.

It could be argued that keeping him away is a good thing, I suppose ;)

Maybe one of the lads could crock him in training then - something minor to keep him out until Christmas when he can go back to Bug Sam.

But I understand that the PFA were suggesting that a 6 week ban would have been appropriate - so to maintain a 9 month ban seems harsh.

I thought Paddy might get the result he wanted today..gutted! Regarding Bunn, play Bennett!

The FA know they have made a complete ass up with the original decision in relation to other offences in the past, but they won't give into the appeal because it shows they are weak willed, like UEFA did in the diving case, problem is the FA now have to impose consistent bans. If not they have a huge target over there head now.

And if anyone feels like making a complaint over the situation you can, and as a fan of the game its in your right,

I still think he was a victim of his own stupidity, although having said that there is a huge gulf in difference between Canavarro and Kenny with regards to the punishments they have recieved and i think this is something that needs to be looked at.

Kenny was shafted should have taken the coke 3 months would be seeing him back. They have taken a huge part of a footballers career which only runs for a few years.
Sue the bastards!

The PFA are very pro-player, and will state that a small ban was appropriate.
Thankfully they're not in charge of dishing out punishment.

as I say, I don't think it's an option.

We going down the road of 3rd party influence are we?

Sue the bastards!

On what grounds? Giving out an appropriate punishment for stupidty from a football player?

The rules are rules. And the rules state that for failing a drugs test for a banned substance under the WADA list is a minimum 9 month ban.

Coke isn't performance enhancing. Ephedrine could be.

My argument is that they should both be dealt with harshly, to protect both the players and the integrity of the game. It appears the FA are only concerned with the latter.

My argument is that they should both be dealt with harshly,

Totally agree.

However just because they don't punish heavily for banned (illegal) drugs, doesn't mean they shouldn't for performane enhancing drugs. (I know you weren't saying this Linz :) )

Itso facto - Kennys banning was satisfactory in my eyes for taking a performance enhancing drug. No matter whether it affected his game or not.

Presuming I've got it right, Paddy's car is in the academy carpark today.

Just done a quick Google search for his middle initial and this happened (had to giggle, poor lad) :

What happened to his eyebrow? I missed that story. :)

Curry house.

Best mate admitted he'd copped off with his missus.

Paddy went ape shit.

So the story in the papers went.

In fact Bladesman, you posted the story in the first place:

http://www.sheff-utd.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=5842&highlight=paddy+curry

I think this was his 2nd "Best Mate" to admit copping off with his missus wasn't it.

The story went that his mates took him out to console him because he'd just found out that his other "best mate" had also copped off with his missus...

You couldn't write it, but if you did then it'd probably be called "2 mates, a cheating wife and 1 eyebrow"

Blame that muppet Steve Staunton. He is the cause of all of Paddy's problems.

... Ireland lost 5-2 to Cyprus and clueless Staunton holds a press conference before the next game a few days later. He has publicly laid the blame for the defeat on Paddy and the defence and not the fact that he choses to pick Leeds reserve Jonathan Douglas to play international football (I kid you not!). He drops Paddy, sends him home and announces to the press that Paddy is having marital difficulties (something which had not been public knowledge). This was a complete betrayal of trust (Paddy refused to play for him again) and showed a total lack of respect for Paddy's privacy.

The press go digging and find out that Paddy's wife has been playing away from home. They print the story (full back page headlines in Ireland) and instead of playing v Czech Rep, Paddy decides to go out and drown his sorrows with mates where the eyebrow incident occurs.

Two and a half years later Staunton has been removed from the Irish job and is working in Boots the Chemist in Broomhill. In walks Paddy suffering from a slight cough ...
