Genuinely think the days of Wilder having ultimate decision on players brought in, has gone. Whether he can accept that, and continue to work with the new owners, will make an interesting watch.

I said Poku last summer, I still stand by that now. I like Dolan too who may be better suited to the Premier League one day, but Poku will excite fans more.

I can understand that there needs to be balance, but I can see the new owners being keen to buy potential to develop and sell on later, whilst Wilder will favour tried and trusted players. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out as Wilder doesn't exactly have form for buying and developing players. Unless we do bring in a director of football there may be trouble ahead.

Rather than set a new thread feel free to revel in who we missed out on from YorkBlade ’s video. Feel free to like and subscribe to what should be standard fare for most Blades 😉

So, who’s left that’s worth considering? I’ve been curiously looking at this on the Wednesday thread but I’d hope our bar is a little higher.

Keepers - we don’t really need one. If we did, the only one I’d really consider is Matthew Ryan. Fraser Forster too long in the tooth for us and others seem unknown quantities for us. Hope we don’t need to anyway.

Defenders - I reckon you’re now down to Ben Mee, Craig Dawson. Michael Rose and Liam Cooper, if we’re simply desperate for numbers at the last knockings but I reckon these two experienced ones who played in the Prem last year are worth a thought. Lindelöf and Zouma are available but they don’t seem realistic financially.

Midfielders - we’re well stocked here it seems. No chance of getting Brownhill, Doucouré I believe has just found a club and Eriksen you’d think will go to a top level league rather than second tier, even if it’s a US, Saudi type though not sure he is allowed to play in the US due to his medical condition.

Forwards - I’m not too partisan to suggest Vardy wouldn’t be useful even at 38 but he’ll have better options than to compromise and come to us! Nathan Redmond seems expensive wage-wise and probably injury prone, so he’s be a no. Antonio is 35 now and infeel
Injuries would be a persistent problem.

Grady Diangana is an interesting one. He’s played attacking midfield for West Brom and also right wing so if we were in for Antman then Diangana ticks similar boxes.

Outside of this someone will take a punt on Ings. Unless we sell Campbell and our hand is forced, I don’t see it being us.

I don't think Vardy would have any interest in coming here, he's not going to gain anything by doing so. I could half see us trying for him if Wilder was still here, he loved a rogue signings.

If we're considering giving Godfrey £50-60k a week (big IF) then just use that money & go and get Brownhill on a 2/3 year deal instead. He becomes a saleable asset and has the experience that we're currently lacking. I know they're different positions but its a position we could still do with improving.

Huge Wednesday fan. He hates us. He'd play for them for free before he signed a contract here.
He’d never come here. My point was that a player of his ability would be of interest if it wasn’t him!

I reckon Brownhill gets better deals than us especially being out of contract.

I'd take Brownhill.

A shame we were not in for Rothwell.
