Jesus. How good was that?

Remember the Pompey defeat. We looked as good as the last Pompey defeat for 60 minutes and people were filtering away. After our second goal, Gannon turned round to our end and made a 'fucking get behind us!' gesture.

I was there with my best mate from Sheffield and a bird I was seeing (behind my ex-'s back) I was spotted on Goldsmith Avenue on my way home with her and well busted.

By the Leicester game I was booted out! Cheers, United.

Watching that back shows something most of us probably didn't realise at the time, how intelligent and important John Gannon was. He was involved in just about everything with simple movement of the ball into key areas, damn that team was good.

Thanks, always remember a few of us southerners being at that first game away at WBA, in a higher league and wondering before how we'd get on. A bit like now really. Then we smashed them and started to believe. With the right team balance, enough up front and an offensive attitude it later proved anything is possible, being timid works for no one.

Still think the driver in the opening credits goes a funny way through town to get to bramall lane.

Totally agree and he never got the credit at the time that I thought he deserved. Nor did Brian Gayle in my view. If you ask most Blades that saw Gayle regularly they'd probably say he was slow, scored own goals and was injury prone. All of those to be fair are true! But, in his first two seasons when he was 27,28 he was rarely injured and was just what we needed at the time. A proper solid centre back and a very good captain too, by all accounts. Both Gayle and Gannon were ex Wimbledon of course.

Where you from mate? My wife is from a small village outside Aylesbury called Weston Turville! You heard of it, some proper money there! We both live in Shiregreen these days which is different! But I'm from Sheffield to be fair!

From south yorks originally but down south in the slough / west london general area since the early eighties, quite a few long standing "go when we can" blades down south but we're not the fakebook crowd nor the old brighton&belgravia/internet mob who do their own secretive thing so we do ours.
