According to BBC Stats there were 25 Shots on Target by the opposition since beginning of September:

Hull -2
QPR - 2
Leeds 2
Ipswich 2
Reading 1
Forest 5
Wolves 2
SWFC 2
Norwich 3
Bolton 2
Sunderland 2

We have conceded just the 10 goals in that time. What a defence we have.

For an attacking team we sure can defend.

Defence always has to be the foundation for success.

Huge credit to the wing backs and the central midfield too.

There's a guy on Twitter who produces a bunch of scatter graphs which shows how tight (or not) our defence is and how lethal (or not) or put attack is.

Not very help but I can't for the life of me remember his handle. I'll continue looking and post if I can recall. Posted it before.

I'd suggest while our defence is pretty good or attack could do better. When I say do better i. Comparing goals scored to chances we create.

Even Saturday we should have had 6 or 7.

Edit. And as is by magic he just popped up.

Really interesting stat in there that we have spent less time with scores level this season than anybody else in all 4 divisions. No wonder we don’t get draws - the scores are hardly ever level during games.

we do it the pep guardiola way , pressing high up the pitch winning the ball back often before it gets in our half.
Cant over state how extremely fit all this current squad are, covering more miles per game than ANY other team
We have never had so many driven players with good engines , it wasnt noticeable at first but Wilders brought in so many captain / leader types who
drive others on and just work tirelessly, attackers tracking back and defenders raiding forward
Its sublime watching us, viewed the highlights v hull again and if we had scored 10 it would not have flattered us , their keeper was outstanding and only he stopped us scoring 4 first half

interesting that on shots attempted we are only 19th
We try so often to look for the perfect opportunity when we ought to just hit one. Duffy is more guilty of this than anyone, when he wants to he can bang them straight in the top bin (ala bouncing day) and I wish he'd try to do it a bit more!

As the great Clough Senior himself always said, you start building a team by getting the best defenders in place, because if you have the best defenders, the worst result you will get is a 0-0 draw.

It`s unbelievable, how we can be so attacking, with centre halves crossing from the by line, yet still be defensively solid.

That is 100% testimony to the organisation of the team, everyone knowing where to drop when players go past them.
Wilder is a genius.

It’s been a common theme at BL virtually every match.

We might say we only had 4 or 5 shots on target which doesn’t seem that impressive
But most matches our goalie hardly has anything to do.

Opposition teams never look like scoring and (apart from the Brentford match) hardly have any good chances.
All our wins this season have been fully deserved.

True but our defenders are different to the norm.
They are all good on the ball, comfortable in possession, good passes and comfortable going forward.

Amen to that brother, although he was a dunce on tuesday night to some on here

All about quality, not quantity. Would much rather us generate one good chance that's converted half the time than take four flyers that go in one in ten
Absolutely agree, always was a citicism of Arsenal that they over did the approach work, however, they were successful and great to watch, just like us !! If you play fast progressive high energy football you cannot afford to concede possesion needlessly by having a 'shoot on sight' policy,we are much too good for that.

BBC Stats had just having 6 shots on target apparently.

I can remember at least 8.

I was just about to post the same.
These cumulative statistics are fascinating but how can they be trusted if the raw data seems incorrect.
We scored four goals on Saturday, Clarke had two other shots saved. Sharp had one. Fleck had a free kick cleared off the line.
At least 8 shots on target, not 6.

Then there was sharps shot deflected wide which was going in, O'Connels shot from distance tipped over....

It's akin to when you read these tabloid match reports and it's clear they never even went to the game.

So we had few shots on target, we were gifted four goals, and it was only our momentum which allowed us to win....

Love it.

Though it was 10 - 0 to us on the corner count..

Someone mention scatter graphs.......

http://www.footcharts.co.uk/index.cfm?task=corr_defence

This shows we have the fewest shots on target against us in the Champ at 2.5 a game. However when a shot is on target they are scored very slightly more often than is predicted. All the columns in the table linked are sortable.
