Sad to see a local lad released tbh.
Its best for both parties though if he is unlikely to feature in the first team squad.

So has he been releases or allowed to join the dingles on a free? Do we have a sell on clause on any future transfer?

I thought this lad was doing well during his loan spell at Barrow.

The thing is, some people at that level (like Adams) will do well because they're on their way up, while others will simply do well because they've found their level. I can't say with certainty which of the two Khan fits into, but I strongly suspect it'll be the latter category.

He's not a local lad he comes from the Manchester area and was released by man utd,we took him on at that time and he seemed promising but has not pushed for a 1st team place. Some times a change of club for a young player gives them the impetus to push on,hopefully we have put a sell on clause if he comes good at barnsley

I wonder what the reaction would have been on here had we just announced the signing of a 20 year old Barnsley player with zero starts in the top 4 divisions, who had just been released from Oakwell.

I'm guessing Forum Meltdown. But would we be at Defcon 2 or 1?
My personal reaction would be to lets give him a chance on the terms that we have him on low wages and haven't paid a fee for him just like Barnsley have done with Khan. No meltdown, just a chance is all that's needed.

I'll be very interested to hear how we've done that, given he's been released from his contract.

Somewhere in London, a journalist can sense something....

:fattwat:
The report says both parties agreed to terminate the contract, which I would assume means United new about Barnsley interest it is possible that we slipped that in (sell on clause) as a provisos.Barnsley sign a contracted player for nothing ,sounds logical to me ,then of course United may feel he's not good enough and just tear up his contract.I think we could have slipped in a sell on clause nothing to lose but a possible windfall if he makes it.It wouldn't be the first time a young player has come through elsewhere with a fresh start

Knocked me duck off. I thought this lad was doing well during his loan spell at Barrow. Impressed the one time I saw him against Rotherham, fucking joke decision by the club. Expect him to make his mark at Barnsley.
How many times have you seen him play? He is nearly 21 and is no nearer to our 1st team

So United agree with Khan to release him from the contract, and Khan as a completely free agent joins Barnsley. And it's possible we have a sell-on clause?

Like you I don't know but I would think it is possible ,Barnsley were soon on the scene and as I said we could easily have agreed a clause in the termination nothing illegal in that. But also you could be right and we agree to release him in good faith so he can make a fresh start
Hope he does well for himself but it would be mighty frustrating if he came through and barnsley made a lot of money selling him on.

That is exactly what I think has happened. Adkins said in his interview pre-Swindon that the youngsters likely to be released this summer have been told their status now to enable them to find a new club. Wouldn't surprise me if one or two more deals like this happen. I suspect we'll have made some sort of saving on the rest of Khan's contract, otherwise there'd have been no point to letting him go now rather than in July – anything from 50% to 100%.

All these young players on there byks but no mention of Diego where,s he got too?

Well I can't see us renewing Wallace or Cuvelier, would imagine Scougall will get moved on, not sure we retain Baxter either. This doesn't leave us with very much in the way of central midfielders, even assuming Hammond is made permanent. Next season, who the hell do we play if, say, Basham's forced to play CB due to injuries/bans because we still haven't bought one, and Hammond's 33 year old legs can't cope with the exertions of playing 90 all the time? Reed? Move Coutts inside?

According to the club website, Wallace got a 3 year deal when we signed him. If so, he's only half-way through it.

That could be good news for us if he comes through the Shrewsbury loan with flying colours ,he will have played 3 games in a week if he plays tonight and pigs on sat.,fingers crossed.

Saw him coming on as sub against Rotherham. Did ok. If he was nearer to the 1st team then Adkins wouldnt have released him

I suppose that he always seemed liked one of the brighter prospects amongst the youngsters, certainly seemed to have been popular at Barrow, and I saw him on the clip against Southport when he scored a good goal. Well, as they say time will tell, obviously wasn't fancied by NA.

Top three Otises:

1. Otis Redding
2. Otis Elevators
3. Oh, ’tis too true! How smart a lash that speech doth give my conscience! - Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 1

It seems Adkins thinks there are better young players than Khan and we cannot keep too many players

Moved on to Yeovil and just a one year contract.

How many clamouring for him to play, based on a 15 min cameo v Rotherham are still upset we released him?
He's only 20 and couldn't break into Barnsley's team because they were on a roll.
Maybe he's not good enough but he did OK in his brief cameo for us and appeared to do well during his loan spells. What more can he do to get an opportunity?
Unless he had a seriously bad attitude why let him go? Was he another overpaid kid on £1k + a week?
It's not my biggest concern but Adkins' tenure was so piss poor I don't trust any of his decisions. His idea of pathway to youth seemed to be throwing a load of kids into a cup match against a championship side and then binning them when they lost.
