Maltese takeover to be announced before end of this week.

Maltese didn't want Blackie in chage and him gonig was part of the deal. We could've won 5-0 on Saturday, he already knew he was going...

Speed will be the new manager.

Heard from three different reliable people.

read the thread linz, just stating that i'd heard otherwise from three different usually reliable people...

oh. sorry - i must have misunderstood the point of a rumour board if it is not to post....rumours?!

Surely if it was to post nothing but facts, it would be called, unsuprisingly "the Fact Forum"

Is that a fact or just a rumour?

Nothing wrong with a rumour,if it doesn't come to fruition no harm done.

The main thought is this one. If Blackwell knew he was going to be sacked then why did he bother staying? If you knew you were going to be sacked at the end of the working day wouldn't you be sorely tempted to tell the boss to stick his job up his bum and go home early?

Because if you quit, you don't get paid for the balance of your contract. If you are fired, you do.

Not if it would cost me half a million quid.

Would have been interesting if we had won 5-0 and Blackwell still got sacked.........................

Been relatively common knowledge that the board had a very low pain threshold, vis-a-vis Blackie, and that Speedo had been given 'the word' some weeks ago to think about what he would do, if the situation arose.

It wouldn't surprise me that the decision was being made on the basis that we are into the season and Rob Kozluk is our only experienced and recognisable right back, especially with the number of defensive trialists who have come and gone. Shabby defeat at Hartlepool probably broke the camels back. Remember the quote in the YP article from Blackie saying that he'd talked to management and a defeat wouldn't be treated as critical (I forget the language used, but it seemed a bit odd at the time)..? It might have been a bit of a shock on Saturday night, but it wont have come as much of a surprise...
