Nixon saying we are in for him in Jan. £5m but depends on the takeover because the budget doesn’t stretch that far

Midfielder for Dane side Midtjylland

Surely a striker is top of the list?

Sheffield United are leading the pack on the trail of Great Dane Oliver Sorensen as the Blades wait on a takeover.

Midfielder Sorensen is a rising star at Midtylland and available for around £5 million which is outside Chris Wilder’s budget unless new case comes in.

Sorensen has also been tracked by Brentford, who used to have Midtylland as partners, and Brighton.

However United could win the race especially if American Steven Rosen can finalise a protracted deal to take control at Bramall Lane.

If not United would have to sell one of their own midfielders to bring in a replacement and leave money for a striker to add to their attack.

In other words, we’re probably going to sell one of our midfielders (Souza??) in January and this is the guy we could replace him with.
Nothing against buying players that Brentford have their sights on btw. We should do it more often.

If that’s the case, then Coulibaly or Tom Davies will do for me 🙂

Looking at video he's certainly a center midfielder. Not sure we would be splashing out 5 million for anyone in that position when we have more obvious needs

Well there’s one thing that is certain.
Without funds there will be no incomings in January.
So if we want a striker who scores we have to sell. Assets who may carry some serious interest due to performances so far-
Blaster
Anel
Souza
Hamer

The suggestion we are looking at this fella says we are looking to replace a midfielder, as neither Souza or Blaster need to be replaced for the rest of the season. So we are selling one.
My money will be on Souza going, we will take anything north of £15m which we may then be able to reinvest in a replacement for him and a striker.

I hope we will see something from Davies soon and get a look at what he could do in the champ, but won’t hold my breath

I’d be surprised if we sell any of the players listed there in January, assuming we’re in with a chance of making the play offs. Even if the prince is in charge we shouldn’t be desperate for money.

If we’re not desperate to sell, and given the mark-up for transfers in the JTW, I think you’re looking at 25 million each for Blaster and Souza, 20 for Hamer, and 15-20 for Anel. Someone would really really want them to be paying those fees in January.

We won’t be selling anyone

Typical click bait from Nixon… Not a chance we buy anyone unless we sell first…..that is unless we have new owners. We have done a good job balancing the books last summer ….and I very much doubt that Prince A would want to roll the dice and gamble again whilst he seems to be struggling to sell. More likely we will maintain the status quo unless we receive a crazy offer for Anel, Vini, Hamer.

Fuck sakes... right club, wrong player! 🙈

Simsir!!!!!! (got 2 more assists in last 2 games)

There is no replacement for Souza that we could buy with any money we might receive for him - in his current form he is irreplaceable - if he's sold there'll be 2 consequences :
We'll not make playoffs.
Club will not get sold.
Anel , Blaster & Hamer also important.

He reminds of Berge but left footed, can also play right wing.

I like him and he's young but it's £5m that has to come into a good midfield. If we "could" afford it and sent Peck on loan, i'd be delighted.

I watched a bit of his game yesterday and he started off defensive midfield. He never stopped running and seemed comfortable with both feet. I then switched over and then came back for the last 10, where he appeared to be playing as a striker or just off the striker. He didn’t do anything special and neither did he do anything wrong. Would need to see a few of their games to get a better idea of him as a player

Article suggesting (and I don’t know how they know this?) that even if the takeover goes thorough, the new owners won’t sanction the signing of Sorenson

“Prospective Sheffield United owners won't make Oliver Sorensen deal”

“The Sheffield outlet has stated that even if the Blades get taken over by the group led by Rosen, they won't be willing to sanction a move for the 22-year-old midfielder.”

Clickbait or just potless before they even start?

If that just happens to be the case, then why would they do that and what’s the point? We may as well just stick with PA. He can sell our assets to raise funds just as easily as these Americans. Better the devil you know and all that.

Well maybe this means he would be surplus to requirements as we won't be selling Hamer, Souza, Blaster or Brooks

2 strikers are the priority in january bring the right 2 in and were nailed on for a top 6 spot minimum

I don't have a problem with selling players and reinvesting with an adequate replacement. I have a problem when you sell a player for £15mil, buy a replacement for £5mil then the other £10mil dissappears and doesn't get reinvested, like the other £18.5mil that we didn't spend this summer after player sales despite us having parachute payments to fund off field investments. Why couldn't we bring in another striker before deadline day when we sold 4x what we spent? That's Sheffield United in a nutshell. The only difference now compared to 15-20 years ago is that we're getting decent fees for our players instead of just giving them away.

We'll be making a substantial loss this season that's why

We were told ahead of this summer 1/2 substantial sales were required just to keep the books balanced due to the loss of revenue. Hence not every penny being re-invested.

I think we do need to bring in a midfielder because if Vini gets injured we're going to struggle. However, from a few clips I've seen he looks more of an Arblaster type so I guess he'd be a replacement. Either way, we're not spending £5 million on a midfielder that isn't going to be first choice.

Perhaps we’re sounding him out just incase we do have to sell or that one of ours decides to leave let’s face it player power decides some things if Leeds are top of the league in January they may come back for Hamer? Too many possibilities.

If any of the 3 Bs want him
Brentford Brighton Bournemouth
we've no chance
Crazy to have JTW waffle in October.
(hope we are quietly scouting though)
