If any of our scouts/recruitment guys had watched them fot their last clubs, then we would not have gone near them. Wilder clearly liked them from previous history (not recent).
So whoever they are identifying, Wilder is either ignoring them or they are failing to convince him they are good signings.
I'd love our recruitment to be identifying young talent from the akin to Stevens, Baldock, O Connell etc but sadly this is ab approach we seem to have binned, going for experience or people known. Its a strategy that would expect instant success but has not worked.
In terms of Allen/Hoyland, after the low cost dabbles in AI that of course did not work, they were back involved identifying signings after our bad start.
Last August we signed Matos, McGuinness, Godfrey, Mee, Ings, Chong. Every single one been dreadful with most binned off already.
None of these will be on cheap wages nor will those signed this summer/recently. Im not sure the constraints argument washes when we have a top 10 wage bill.
We just seem incapable of identifying new talent or have chosen to go down the retreads of players but when your manager limits your recruitment to 4% of the footballers innthe works, suppose that limits us?
I think its fair to ask questions against the recruitment team as our transfers havr been largely disastrous last 18 months. Cannon being a symbol of this but its been (Wilder essentially employed Allen/Hoyland which I did not like but Bettis once again will have deferred to him with no other senior football figures to make proper appointments not just the managers pals).
