Nooooooo.........they would nt........................would they???

To be fair, he'd make a better assistant than Morgan would.

Oh wait, you don't mean...

Doesn't really matter djb. Apart from Wenger, AVB and maybe a couple of others most football 'managers' are chancers who rely on the law of averages - a bit like semi-proficient gamblers.

ALL the names being mentioned fill me with dread and just illustrate the short memories chairmen/some supporters have.

I recently looked up Paul Jewell on Wikipedia. Nothing against him, but it just shows that consistent failure are no barrier to continued employment as a manager. This extract is from his time at Derby:

His first win as manager came only on penalties in an FA Cup game against Sheffield Wednesday, four days before they were knocked out of the competition to 22nd-placed Championship side Preston North End. His 16th game as Derby manager came at his former club Wigan Athletic on 23 February 2008 when a 2–0 defeat set a Derby club record of 21 league games without victory. Derby's relegation from the Premier League was confirmed on 29 March 2008 after a 2–2 draw with Fulham. The point gained from the draw was just Derby's 11th of the season. Derby finished the season with a record low of 11 points, and just one win, which was gained under Jewell's predecessor Billy Davies, equalling a 108-year Football League record.
Jewell's first victory as Derby manager came in the second game of the 2008–09 season when a hat-trick from Nathan Ellington helped his side defeat Lincoln City 3–1 after extra time in the first round of the League Cup. He recorded his first league win as Derby manager after 10 months in the job when his side defeated Sheffield United 2–1 on 13 September 2008. Despite leading Derby to their first League Cup semi-final in 40 years by defeating Stoke City, newspapers continued to report Jewell's job was unsafe. He resigned after the final game of the 2008 calendar year after his side lost 1–0 to Ipswich Town, which left Derby in 18th place in the Championship table. For a third time, Jewell was replaced by his assistant manager Chris Hutchings, this time as caretaker manager.

Nothing personal - he has just been a failure wherever he went.

Some people on FH last night were seriously doubting that we'll make the play-offs FFS! They need to get real. If we manage to get out of this, it would more than equal what 'Harry Houdini' did in the '90s.

A series of crap managers, selling the best players, an obviously unmotivated team. The future looks bleak. And this is why, before this season is out, we'll be looking at yet another replacement manager.

But it's the nature of a cometitive game like football that virtually all managers will have both successes and failures on their records. Jewell, for example, has 3 promotions to his name, two to the PL.

to be honest i think this is a disgraceful decision the club were going out of existence he has had to bring in a whole new squad. What were the board their expecting to be a point behind chesterfield

Aye, promotion to the Prem with both Wigan and Bradford AND kept them both up!

That's WIGAN and BRADFORD to the top flight of English football! Not exactly where history dictates they belong.

I forgot he was in charge at Wigan when they sent us down.

Absolutely spot on Graf! And the reason why I don't really care who gets the job, Just hope he's a lucky bastard!
