Arblaster had a ball in his hands which he half volleyed off the pitch about a second after they took the corner. It was unfortunate, but I thought they did well to spot that.
Fair play my view from the south stand was lagging and the commentary didn't seem to understand either

QPR boss explains Jack Colback’s Sheffield United red card and asked about Ilias Chair’s injury return

17 August 2024Dan Evans

Marti Cifuentes explained that Jack Colback’s sending off in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United was the result of two yellow cards for dissent.

The experienced midfielder was booked twice in the space of four minutes after taking issue with a decision made by referee Anthony Backhouse.

Colback, who came on as a half-time substitute, received the second yellow for remonstrating with the fourth official while Rangers were still 2-1 down.

“I spoke with him and spoke with the officials,” said Cifuentes.

“It seems that, according to Jack, one of the Sheffield United players who already had a yellow card was asking for a yellow card – showing his hand – and that, according to the rules, is a yellow card.

“So instead of a red card for Sheffield United, it goes the other way.

“It’s true for the second one he was still asking. I asked him what was going on and why he was getting mad, and I took responsibility because he came very close to the fourth official, and he thought it was a second yellow, which for me was very harsh.

“Refereeing for me is very difficult and perhaps this situation had a big effect on the game.

“We need to understand that the players are human beings, and they can make some mistakes.

“I don’t think that he came in a bad way or a disrespectful well, but definitely, I will have a talk with him on Tuesday when we are back.”

Blatant match fixing. Absolute fucking danger.

They held and kicked us all second half, nothing. As soon as we get anywhere near their box it’s a foul for nothing. As soon as we breathe on them it’s a foul.

Investigate the cunt. Bring back the death penalty
So long as you ignore their red for the lad sneezing or whatever.

It was bad but for both sides.

Did seem like for about 30 mins in 2nd half we got literally no decisions go our way. Equally their booking in first half was never a booking.

Was a poor ref.

Ref was poor yesterday, didn't get any big calls wrong but generally interfered too much which disrupted the game. He did play a couple of advantages which was good to see but blew for too many minor challenges.

One if those who wants to be noticed .

Not the worst we'll get but a 4/10 .

Yeah seemed to stop play and disrupt the game.

I thought that there were a lot of niggly free kicks that he had to give but weren’t anything major. He tried a few times to let things go but when that passage of play goes on too long but doesn’t come to anything he can’t bring it back. He then got a round of, ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ which he then tried for the last 30 minutes to prove correct.

It’s about time more refs clamped down on dissent. I thought ref was poor in second half but I applaud him for clamping down on Colbeck. I thought a rule had been introduced that only the captain could speak to the ref. From what I’ve seen this is generally already not being enforced. Typical of football. Players are treated like Gods.

Officiating from prem to non league needs looking at and revamping. No matter what division you're in the officials aren't fit for purpose.

If that's true it was either Gus or Vini. Anyone see it?
Not good if they did.

I didn't see anyone waving an imaginary card . It's the sort of thing I don't like but if true, Colback was still wrong to get involved

After a match we all give our players marks out of ten .How about marking the refs performances in this section ?

Josh Smith for the Norwich game on Saturday. Did us 5 times in our last promotion season - we didn't win any of them! Did 4 Premier League matches last season (none of ours) - was heavily criticised after the Fulham-Arsenal game and wasn't given another one after that.

No attempt on the ball, he just punches him. That should’ve been a red and it probably should’ve been a 2-3 match ban.

No words.

That ref should have just had a Blackburn Rovers shirt on.

Ref who did the Yorkshire derby @ Elland Rd is in charge of the Steel City derby. 2nd time this season Blades will have him as ref.
