There are seven news items on the official site today. Three of these are match reports of foreign clubs. Is this really necessary? How many Blades fans find it even remotely interesting?

Why can't they at least be removed from the Sheffield United news section?

I have a quick glance from time to time.

Don't see the issue personally. There's rarely any news that can come from the club of much interest anyway.

I'd prefer it if they weren't under Sheffield United news. I couldn't care less about Fradi, Chengdu or any of the other teams we're linked with. Ditto with the programme - stop shoving it down our throats!

Agreed.

No one really gives a crap about what they are upto.

Completely agree Bergen, I've never read one, to be honest and I'm not sure if every club is as guilty as we are but our official site is awful for news items. You look on there and there are a few reports from Hungary, one from Australia, an advent for Sheffield United garden gnomes (I kid you not, it was last week), an Abba tribute act playing in the Marsten Suite, some academy report and a few videos which you can't watch unless you subscribe to Blades Player (and why would you when BBC have got all the best bits now anyway).

I imagine since BU shut down the 'hits' have gone down quite a bit.

Stopped reading the official site some time ago. Last place for all news on the Blades. Usually after all the papers and internet sites already have it.

Well when I want official news on the blades I check out barnsleyfc.co.uk as they seem to be abit obsessed about us since the Hume incident.

Seems like I'm in a minority here but I like to keep up with the news from the other clubs. That having been said I'm not so keen that I'll trawl the net looking for results or check out their websites so having updates on the SUFC site is perfect for me.

I dunno... I have just this minute received the "latest from the lane" email newsletter saying that Blackwell believes that Reading will be a stern test on our visit to the Madejski on Saturday.

:nono:

Latest? From the Lane?

Ge'or!

As I was born in Colchester, I still have a soft spot for Colchester United. Should we then feature news stories about them for my benefit?

I'd like to see how many people are interested in hearing about our sister clubs as opposed to not. Can we have a poll, Linz?

For what it's worth, I'm not against having any mention of them whatsoever, for those who want to read it. It's just when news about them is given equal footing to news about us. It's SUFC.co.uk, not thebladesfamily.co.uk or kevinmccablesworldwidebusinessinterests.info.

Cheers! It'll be interesting to see whether people enjoy them or not.

I suppose my point of view is that at least the OS has something on at all :)

It amazes me how someone whose only job it is to put content on the OS makes such hard work of it.

Meant to mention it earlier when talking about goalkeepers and their respective heights... but Paddy Kenny was listed as 5 foot 12 inches for almost a full season

Exactly.

We cant even keep up with our own news.

Yet we are able keep up well enough with our sister clubs latest news.

I'd say keep them in a different section, unless one of the teams has the won the league or cup in the country - then I'd have a quick read.

We've a few academy players in Hungary, I like to keep tabs on them and the ex-blades dotted about.

is it necessary for you to comment on our defending for every goal we concede? Some people probably like reading your ramblings as some people enjoy reading about our other clubs. If you don't like it just don't click on the link.

simples

Not at all. I'll quit if nobody reads them, if not sooner.

I don't click the link. I would like the official site to give me relevant news stories though, and think it's in the interest of the club that it gives fans what they want.

We haven't even bothered with profiles of the academy players the last few years. It seems to me that news stories about the foreign clubs are included at the expense of more relevant stuff.

Don't quit! Even if you think nobody will agree with you then still post it. If it sparks a debate then it's worth posting, and somebody has to play devil's advocate. And you might find that a lot of people agree.
