Not been but I think there are a few on manchester road on the way to the ground.

Football ground guide mentions Rose & Crown.

I'm expecting to spend the most of my time in Manchester before jumping on the metro to Bury.

I don't know the Rose and Crown.

I seem to recall that some of posters like that poncey real ale stuff, you could try this place and see steam trains for free:-

It's the old Bolton St Station and about five minutes walk into town from the Met, albeit away from the ground. I reckon the walk from The Trackside to the ground would be 15 minutes max.

I recall seeing Jeff King scoring at Bury and the legend that is Keith Edwards, back in the Div 4 days

Yes, miserable night and Sir Keith buried a header from a left wing cross, fairly late on if memory serves. Thought it was an equaliser for a 1-1 though ? Jeff King may have crossed the ball, I remember us scoring an almost identical goal at Blackpool in the same season.

It was a very late Sir Keith equaliser, about the 88th minute, at the end of the 1982 Div 4 season. I remember it as being a sunny evening! Sir Keith was in competition with Bury's Craig Madden for the Div 4 Golden Boot and that goal just about clinched it.

Told it a few times over the years but we were in the side stand on wooden benches opposite their penalty area on our left wing 2nd half. It was very late in the game and as Jim says, we were 1 down. Colin Morris (on the left, I know) had the ball right next to us and Jeff King almost tackled him to get the ball attracting cries of derision but then sent a pearler of a cross in for Keith to head (I think) home. Cue scenes of pandemonium and we went straight through the benches when we jumped on them - ooops. The streets outside were very Coronation Street and provided great acoustics for the singing Blades walking back after the match :-)

That's it. Thanks fellers - Wapping spot on - it all comes back now. I was right behind Keith's header as it hit the back of the onion bag.
