I think this is a bit unfair. His footballing ability gets vilified - not him himself. I don't think there is a single Blade who wouldn't buy Monty a pint for his efforts for this club. There are just a number of us who would have bought him ten not to play for us again :)
I maintain and maybe I'm the only person who thinks this but so be it, that Monty was an excellent man marker and could neutralise players much better than he was thus that was the role he should have played.

True. There are very few players that wouldn't be welcomed if they came back. Except Hammond as you say and Neil Collins

They're are a few more than those two on my list. - I give you Messrs. Woolford, Sammon and Baxter for openers ....... how far are we allowed to go back .?

I'm not sure BM would buy him a pint :)

I always windered who came off worst in that scrap he had with di canio

Leon looks genuinely upset that his manager is basically trying to bully him but he certainly doesn't back down and towers over the fascist little gobshite as they walk down the tunnel

If I ever meet him face to face I'll ask him

I agree in that specific role he was great. There was a game, maybe in the Prem or Cup where he specifically was used to man mark the opposition play maker out of the game. I forget the actual game or player but it was quite high profile and he did a great job.

I think you've inadvertently stumbled on a major difference between us and the pigs. He played for the pigs for 4 seasons and they don't have the decency to acknowledge his past with them. There's no way Unitedites would trash talk one of their ex-players unless he'd shat on them, such as Hammond, and I'm not aware of Clarke falling into this category with the pigs.

agree, but unfortunately we have some on here that don't subscribe to this.
jagielka and Kevin macdonald as examples....

I sometimes try to second guess where we'd be had Donaldson not gone off injured at Sunderland.

Clarke's goals have really been priceless.

One more season with us would have kept us out of that 3rd division thingy.

Observation by an Owl.....

There was one on Football Heaven tonight making out the Premier League isn't all its cut out to be.

Apparently it was better when Wednesday were last in there and the Championship has much bigger clubs.

Mmm... sure they weren't saying this last or the previous season.
