hello good people of S24
got my ticket for oldham tomorrow so just wanted to say hello in advance of that
i'm from oldham originally, but moved to sheffield in 1995. lived on shoreham street about 200 yards further up the road than bri & irene's corner shop
started going to BDTBL for something to do on a tuesday evenings, and got hooked pretty much straight away. tuesday evenings turned into saturday afternoons, and next thing you know i'm sat in the away end at port vale (*shudder*) being rained on through a hole in the roof, bemaining THAT tackle on dane whitehouse... (*bigger shudder*)
i've considered myself a blade since then
favourite managers (which i've been around to remember):
- warnock - a controversial figure, but at least he gave a damn
- spackman - bit of a nearly-man tbh, but he was there when i first got into them, and you never forget your first love
favourite matches:
- either the fa cup quarter final replay at the lane against coventry *cough spit*, sat in the kop (and just how big was that bloody flag???)
- or the xmas 96 (i think?) 4-1 home win over charlton, sitting in the upper tier above the away fans (and just how quiet where they?? :thumbup
least favourite matches:
- play offs at wembley couple of years ago (burnley FFS? BURNLEY??)
- blades v newcastle @ old trafford in the semis, just after coventry victory. dirty cheating shearer
- or any of those drubbings we used to get at home to man city and west brom in the mid/late 90s
happy days
moved to leeds *cough spit again* in about 2000, then moved back to manchester in 2006, where i live now.
am quite looking forward to a lot of local matches this year - oldham, bury, 'dale, huddersfield...
so yeah. hello
and if anyone's out and about at the game tomorrow, i'll be the one with the black rockabilly quiff, wearing a white "Wards" away top from 96 :hello:
