Don't think we need him now we have Gilchrist. Good player though.

If we are going after another defender, I don't know if I'm comfortable with it being another loan. Having 3 players who are guaranteed to be leaving at the end of the season, in a single position, means focus has to go on recruiting for that position the following summer. If we can at least get a perm done for a RB so that position is more stable, I'd be a lot happier.

If true, might suggest we see Gilchrist as more of a CB and are looking to offload Anel.
The signings of Souttar and Gilchrist certainly suggest a level of forward planning for Ahmedhodzic's departure. I think it'll suit all parties if we get a £15m bid but I suspect it'll happen late in the window.

I think we are still rightly pissed off with Coventry over that ballon protest so now we just enquire about anyone they are linked to just to annoy them

Loan players may not leave at the end of the season, whether or not we go up.

If Gilchrist is going to play RCB this lad is one I’d be very happy for us to get

True, but I meant it in the manner that those loans will end, no matter what, and we will have to do some transfer business to account for that. Maybe it ends up being that we buy the player/s we've had on loan, we loan the same player again (see Henderson or McAtee), or we go after someone else. But we will have to replace that loan deal next season one way or another. And when you have multiple loans in the same area of the field, that feels to me like an egg/basket situation.

The overall squad balance would feel a lot more even, were we to make any additional loan signings in midfield/attack (or GK if we go after the Rushworth lad), and look to make a perm deal for defensive options. Not having an senior outright right back under contract feels somewhat negligent by the club to me. yes we have Shackleton, but he was brought in as a utility player who can also cover the midfield. We should have at least one player akin to a Baldock/Bogle, who is a round peg in that position.

I'd be far more comfortable, if we were able to look at simply improving the squad year-on-year, rather than being in a panic because we desperately need to get "somebody" in due to a lack of depth.

That’s a really reasonable fee for a young lad who’s done quite well in the championship
