'Cheap as chips' Blackie has NO idea..........for you Blades not at the Scabs last night it was shite........ how he got an extension to his contract baffles me not only was the timing wrong he is clueless. He will do more damage to United than f10pp0 did ! ......if he stays the length of his contract.

January transfer window, strengthen the squad ? forget it the Blackie management team couldn't spot quality if it was in front of em.

Hoofball United it'll be while Blackies around !

I agree that Blackwell should be made to work with the squad he has rather then spending big in January; this squad of players is easily capable of getting into the play-offs so further recruitment should not be required.

The fact that KB's record in the transfer / loan market thus far has been unimpressive to put it lightly only compunds my opinion.

People want pace down the flanks, we have pace with the like of Cotterill, Webber and Naughton.

People want class through the middle of the park; we have Sun, Speed and Howard.

People want goals from the strikers, we have the most expensive strike force in the division.

We have the players, we just need them to play the game in the right way.

This reminds me of what one of my friends who's a Wolves fan was saying when Mick McCarthy became their manager and look at them now.
They were arguing in the stands (sound familiar), wanting the manager sacked (again familiar) and complaining about the style of play ( )

What baffles me is Blackwell was saying the style of play we were going to play under him is totally different to how its panned out!

I'd like to give him time to make his mark on the team personally. But he doenst help himself with his team selection & tactics.

Though we like to call McCarthy good and Blackwell bad, it seems much of the justification comes from ...... the ball hits the post and goes in = good, hits the post and stays out = bad. That's just football but, in the end, it's why managers get fired. Just ask Warnock ..... one goal vs one post and there goes a career! If we have the money to spend and that gets us someone on the left who can make a difference I don't care if that makes Blackwell look good, and we win despite his coaching style. I'll take the wins.

A manager is never going to say that he is hoping to get his team lumping it from back to front because the fans wouldn't wear it; they always say that they want to play attractive football.

Talk is cheap and i think the signing of hendo (for 2 million quid) was the clearest indication of how we would be playing this season.

I have no problem with that style if it is deployed correctly (in an ideal world i would prefer to see passing football) but at the moment we are neither here nor there.

Whilst it wasn't a classic performance, it was a win.

At times I thought there were a lot of positives, we had spells of trying to play one-touch/short passing football. Blackie (and Speed!) were constantly talking to the players, urging them to get down the wings and in constant discussions throughout the match.

Often, we had spells of a number of passes until someone like Quinny panicked on the ball and lost it.

I think we'll see another change in the strikers on Saturday. I'd still swop Morgs out for Ugo (seems to make us more solid and stops Naysmith drifting inside). I'd keep Monty in the team (best player on the pitch last night), he'll do the hard work allowing the more creative players to do more. Having said that, Monty put some great forward passes in on Tues too! :)

We seem to currently be mixing it up, but reverting to a more direct style whilst under the cosh. We need to improve on decision making and start believing in ourselves a bit more.

We have the players to do it, though could do with a couple of quality additions, we aren't far off, we just need to hit that blend and a run of form.

Exactly. 'Kick and rush' can work well if it's played correctly - look at Stoke last season. We seem to still be suffering from not having a clear tactical approach - something that started when Robbo came in, and but for the end of last season, Blackwell has done nothing to address, in my opinion.

Yer havin a laugh Foxy !

We SHOULD have the players to do it but alas i fear not......were miles away from being a decent team..........forget promotion we just aint good enough and thats wi £££££££££££££££'s McCabe, just look at the pigs.....not a pot to piss in, but not far behind us.

We have a tactical approach??! :D

He he, good point ;)

It is worrying, as Beighton says, that the unclean are only 3 points behind us (how did that happen?). I do fear that, given our financial situation, they'd be making a far better fist of it than we seem to be doing.

Not a pot to piss and only 15 players fit apparently.

We should be getting the best out of what we have got really.

The loan signings of Stokes and Dyer have been a waste of money. Dyer since he has joined has played about 15mins of football.

We have players that seem to have been frozen out of the team altogether such as Carney and Geary.

Yet people are saying we need more players. How about we use the ones we have 1st rather than wasting more money on players.

Or how about we ship out the players we dont want?? There are far to many squad players that are just happy to sit & collect there wages. If i was manager i would sack 3/4s of our midfield for starters.

Beighton is right in what he says though. Its an embaressment.
