This doesn't necessarily mean to start games, it could just be someone to get on the bench and maybe have 10-15 games in all competitions, but they have to make the step up and become part of the senior squad.

Brooks and Arblaster broke through in the 23/24 season.

Seriki and Peck did the same last season.

I'm not counting Oné this season as he hasn't really broken through properly, not in the way that Seriki and Peck did, he's just had the occasional game, same with Baptiste.

Predictions of who will be the next one to come through.

Personally, my prediction is Jamal Baptiste, mainly because of our shortage of CB's at the moment.

I don’t think there will be one this season. We’ve retained almost all the senior players. If Wilder is backed he’s likely to sign players to fill what holes there are in the senior side and there’s no one really setting things alight in the 21’s banging down the door to be involved so it’s more likely to be a Marsh or a Curtis or a Baptiste but probably after at least one more loan to get game time.

This is the downside to chasing promotion with Wilder in charge. Ultimately, Wilder is risk-averse and values experience above potential.

I really hope that a few of the youth can grasp whatever chance they’re given in pre-season and in the early rounds of the league cup.

I think you summed his first spell up quite well, we used 1 Academy player frequently and that was David Brooks, who was set for a loan to Chesterfield before he was included in our squad instead.

While we did sell Brooks to fund the remaining players we needed for the promotion push, he did take a punt on the somewhat inexperienced Dean Henderson, who hadn't played higher than L1 before that season.

This time I think he has been more willing to use the youth players, I know our squad depth wasn't great but he wouldn't just give them a chance without thinking they were good enough in the first place.

First few games in the PL since CW returned, Andre Brooks was handed a few starts in midfield, Will Osula was brought back into the starting 11 (after alternating being on the bench and out of the squad), and eventually Arblaster was brought into the team and made captain.

Start of last season (feels strange saying last season this soon), Brooks, Arblaster, Peck and Seriki were all given chances and played big parts this season.

Will it be more experience next season, probably yes as we need to get that blend of youth and experience right, but I'd be surprised if 1 or 2 youth players weren't given a chance next season.

With Peck supposedly going and serious doubts hanging over Souza's future, surely Blacker has to be one of the next cabs off the rank into CM? He looked very comfortable when called upon last season.

Marsh also seemed to do well out on loan and I expect him to break into the match day squad.

L2 to Championship, it's possible I suppose, competition for the 10 with O'Hare?

Marsh has the ability to be an outstanding no.10 his reading of the game and to make the telling pass is up there ! Good finished too
Pressed wrong button there!
Marshy is a good finisher too.
Had a bad 12 months or so with injuries etc! I expect him to be there or there abouts this season.
Needed time to grow into this body I expect big things from him ! Really gifted player.

Where is Peck going?

I would guess the likes of Blacker and Marsh are closest but suspect they will be going out of loan again with a few others

Owen Hampson might be another logical guess, given he’s played in a couple of cup games. Seems a tidy player.

I would like to have said Marsh but this season has really held him back. Sasnauskas has a lot of potential to make it one day.
I was disappointed we didn't take more opportunities to blood Marsh early in the season.

O'Hare had an ineffective start to the season and there was little to lose in subbing him on a few occasions and let Marsh have a go in that role.
