You don't have to buy them every year.

Personnally I haven't bought one for about 5 years, but I know a lot of people who have kids who get pressurised to have every new one.

But hang about Matt the usual change strip was this for years but they haven't bothered showing it;

got to say I love the red sash kit but I'd be happy with this. Though I take the points above. I think that referees were less troubled by slight kit clashes than they are now. It always narks me when they get all fussy about shorts and socks being the same colours and United end up in white shorts at Swillsborough or something daft like that.
The ref behind Billy Dearden is Keith Walker who became SUFC's secretary in 1972. Walker was the ref when we lost that match at Man U on 2nd October 1971

Yeah. I'd rather we played in the away kit, which brings me onto my next thing which I know will definately divide opinion.

Why don't the FA make it mandatory to wear the away kit away from home unless it clashes with the home teams home kit. That way, fans would see their team play in both kits more. Afterall, they are called AWAY kits these days and not CHANGE kits. This would also enable "3rd kits" or "2nd away kits" to be worn more. If the away kit clashes, wear the 3rd kit. Fans would be far more pleased especially when people buy their kids the third shirt only for us never to wear it.

I've never understood the point in wearing our HOME kit when we aren't at HOME. You don't wear slippers in somebody elses house.

Here you go..

One of these should be our away kit. Perfectly simple and great. (swap the navy for black on the yellow one).

is that an old Crewe shirt? (sorry).

I think that clubs shouldn't wear their away kit unless its deemed necessary by the ref. Even then I am in favour of changing the colour of the shorts or socks while wearing the regulation home shirt.

I think it is only Liverpool who don't EVER (these days) change either socks or shorts while they wear the red top though that may be because so few teams wear red shorts who don't have red shirts? I get the feeling that they always sport the whole away kit if there is any clothing clash?

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Our away kit should be either white or retina-searingly bright.

The NFL teams have the options of a coloured shirt or a white one, although some do have a third kit which seems to be rarely worn. This at least means no colour clashes. As our home shirt has white stripes then perhaps a brightly coloured one is the best away option.

I do. I take them with me. Bit like the kitman really. He takes the kit with him. :)

However playing in the buff could be interesting. "And er for those watching in black and white, Sheffield United are the team with three legs.";)

I'd rather we wear our "home" kit whenever possible. We're red & white stripes, not some random colour combination made up by kit marketing men.

Agree.

It pisses me off when they come out away from home in the away kit when it obviously isn't necessary.

Can only be some sort of contractual reason i.e. have to wear the away kit a minimum number of times.

We play in red and white stripes [sometimes]

yeah, it should be a rule that the away kit of a team can't share any of the home kits colours. I do like us sticking with the yellow away shirts.

Yeah any away kit should only be worn when the colours actually clash but like you said having two different sponsors probably does complicate it.

i thought next seasons home kit is going to be white with thin red stripes as it is our 125 anniversary

For me 4 possibles, the one Jon Bon posted, the 08/09 black with red n white flashing, 91-93 all white with red and black detailing or lastly the le coq white with red nod black piping from 99/00 season.
All looked good to me.
