One thing that did stick out again yesterday was how woefully short we are up front, (literally in the second half!)... Porter took his goal well but we all know it will be another 5 games before he finds the net again. Paynter will be back for the Posh game which is a relief but if Porter is out, who do we have as an option?

Brandy and Taylor are out on loan, Ironside has disappeared off the face of the earth, Miller is struggling to regain his form and Diego isn't match fit.

We could opt to play Murphy or Baxter down the middle, but I would prefer to see us try and bring in another option before Jim White slams the window shut.

One or two have mentioned Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester. Don't know if he has been mentioned on here?

Well Clough has stated he'd like to bring in a forward before the window shuts, preferably somebody different to the 'target man' style of Porter & Paynter'.

We are linked with a young french forward, but i would imagine if anything happens there he'd be more for the development squad.

Schlurp plays for Leicester who are top of the championship. Fulham have just made a bid for him, according to sky. I think it's pretty safe to say he won't be moving to us.

Because he is injured?

I just look at the second half yesterday with the counter attacking style of Baxter, Scougall, Murphy and Flynn and I know for one, I can't wait to integrate Porter into that style.

I think Ironside was cup-tied for yesterday's game. However, he might just as well have disappeared off the face of the earth since, so far, he seems unable to transfer his promise as a youngster into the senior level. Maybe he will come good, or like some other promising players in the past he'll end up as a part-time player in the Conference leagues.

P.S. If the club would like to send him down to Boston United, I'll keep an eye on him...

I think we could do with 2 strikers tbh.

If one gets injuered then we could be back to square 1.

I think Ironside has only just returned from a loan at Halifax, where he scored 2 in 6(4) apps.

For me he's one that needs to move on.

I agree Ironside just hasn't got what's required to make it at this level, he is missing that extra yard of pace and doesn't have a natural eye for a goal. He never looked like scoring for us when he has come on unfortunately. After saying this he will probably be another one we let go cheaply and goes on to better things, just cant see it at the moment.

Development squad.?? We don't need development squad players today

If we can move the ball quickly like we did in the 2nd half yesterday, we are going to need a striker who is pacey enough to keep up with play.

Can't see anyone coming in permanently. I think Clough will wait for the loan window.

That's pretty much what he said in his Peterborough preview interview. He didn't specifically mention a striker but we already have 4 loanees and a loan in the window for 93 days can see us through to the end of the season.

Mind you, I've just checked and 93 days back from our last match is January 31, so if we did have someone in mind it could be done on Friday. I assume we don't yet have the right player.

He may have to wait until other deals are done, or not, on Friday before teams will let him take players on loan.

I've seen this shit before.

We seem determined to finish the season with absolutely fuck all up front for the third season in a row.

I can see it now, due to fixture pile-up we have four games in a week at the end of the season and need just 5 points to stay up but we can't buy a goal...
