I heard Sam Allerdyce is on the verge of being sacked from Newcastle, he'd the the man to pick this club up and kick it back into life.

Ince
Big Sam
Dalglish

take your pick.

warnock did do a good job, until he got us in the prem and it was hit and miss!

We don't have the money to attract anybody of note. Maybe someone from the third division. Most of the 'new' managers have not had NW's success so, given the same players, changing managers is mainly for show. Still think it best to see what comes in the window first as it would not take much to lift this team - despite all the moaning.

also the signing of gary speed could tempt big sam

Big Sam? Please, no. Did any of the people saying Big Sam could do a good job ever watch Bolton? Soulless 4-3-3 hoofball half the time. I thought we wanted the team to start playing attractively, not like 1980's Wimbledon.

From the reports from geordies I wouldnt have Sam Im afraid

Listening to 606-phone-in and Watford fans not happy with performances - If it carries on you never know - I deffo wouldnt turn down Boothroyd

If it's winning football, quite frankly I don't care how it's played. I really hoped for Chris Coleman when St Neil went, but we haven't got a prayer now. Big Sam's good enough for me, as is Billy Davies, and John Collins is looking for a job too.

Billy Davies has achieved bugger-all. He managed to get a pretty poor Derby County side promoted through sheer luck, and the fact that the rest of the division was poor as well, and then his shortcomings were made painfully obvious in the Premier League.

Which is exactly why I'd expect to see him at the Lane soon.

Does anyone else think that Speed has partially been brought in to take over from Robbo in the New Year?

I agree, wouln't fancy Billy Davies here.

Paul Ince is a good call though.

No doubt if we do get rid of Sornob we'll get some other proven failure in. I would say that as the successful managers tend to stay with their clubs or migrate to massive clubs, our best bet would be to get in someone young and relatively unproven - one for the future. I know a lot of people wanted Jewell in, but what's he ever done in the Prem? Managed to keep Wigan in the Prem for two seasons, one by the skin of his teeth? What's the point in getting a good Championship manager if his shortcomings are going to be exposed the minute we get promoted?

What's needed is some real forward thinking. We've got it as a club off the field, but on the field it's like watching us 10 years ago. Let's get a young, hungry manager who's eager to prove himself, rather than one who's had the chance and done sod-all time and time again. Keep your Jewells, your Davies', and your Robsons. Let's get some new blood and have an air of passion back to the Lane.

Paul Ince is a good call though.

What for? If we need another ex-Man Utd sour faced whiner with a face that looks like he's been sucking lemons all week, then let's have him. Otherwise no. I'd rather see my own entrails than Paul "Not the Guv'nor, but if you don't call him that he cries" Ince.

Unless we start moving towards the relegation zone I think Robson is here to stay.
He's already started moves for the January transfer window so he's not going anywhere at the mo. And then it would be daft to let him get the players he wants in January and sack him in February! He'll be here til the end of the season.
I think (and really hope) Speed could make a massive difference. Warnock had 4 years (ish?) to replace Brown/McCall and never did. It ended up costing us our place in the Prem. One thing you can say about Robbo is that he's addressed that in his first 6 months, albeit only with a temporary solution.
Even after yesterday's poor showing I'm actually optimistic for a late push for promotion (can't believe I just wrote that!!!)

Billy Davies has achieved bugger-all.

He got a very ordinary Derby side to the Premiership when at the begining of the season was one of the favourites for relegation. Whilst they haven't done anything in the Prem, will come back in a much stronger position in relation to money, fans, squad and marketing profile.

He also guided a very poor PNE team to the play offs 2 years running.

Unless we start moving towards the relegation zone I think Robson is here to stay.

Spot on J&H, unless the board are looking to use Robbo's links to get the players in for a new manager.....

Whilst I think Speed will be a good signing, we are yet to be confirmed of this.
