Need to spend big and wisely in the JTW

Forget spending on the defence. Shell out a few million on some strikers. Work extra hard on fitness over winter. Then attack attack attack. As long as we score more than the opposition it doesn't matter how much we concede; we'll sort the defence in the summer.

You simply cannot spend millions on strikers in this division.

Im dissapointed with the stance hrh has taken since proclaiming his interest in the blades. For me it shouldbhave been a simple statement of intent. Work hard and get results if not your gone and i will get someone in who will do your job better. I have the money and want to do things the right way but ultimatley i am bank rolling this journey and will donwhat is needed to make it happen.

I think clough can get us to the champ play offs on managerial skill but at that point he will be in question.

Sentiment in a results driven environment can be aplauded but is ultimatley for losers.

Show us what you have hrh or we may as well just leave our destiny to Mccabe and his unrealised dreams.

Done.

The next three games look very tough indeed for a team really low on confidence (but in denial about their actual ability). Bristol City away (getting results together again) followed by Walsall at home (they ripped Peterborough apart last night in the live game on Sky - pace, movement, running at players, trickery, Andy Taylor looking like a decent left back, FFS) then Orient away (nuff said) tells me that we are likely to return zero points out of the next 9. I believe we will be spared bottom place in the league because County have an equally tough November. Going into Christmas, only two games, Swindon at home and Stevenage away will be just as tough - we will be lucky to return 3 from 6 here, which will leave us quite a way adrift in the relegation zone going into the Boxing Day fixture against Oldham. It does not bode well!

Be prepared for very defensive displays for the rest of the month as Clough attempts to cut out the mistakes and aims to avoid defeat, first and foremost. It aint going to be pretty, I tell thee.

I also had a look at the rest of our fixtures this year, and agree the next few games look very tough. All teams are above us both in the table and in the form table.

Sa 23Nov 2013 Bristol C v Sheff Utd

Tu 26Nov 2013 Sheff Utd v Walsall

Sa 30Nov 2013 Leyton Orient v Sheff Utd

Sa 14Dec 2013 Sheff Utd v Swindon

Sa 21Dec 2013 Stevenage v Sheff Utd

Th 26Dec 2013 Sheff Utd v Oldham

Su 29Dec 2013 Sheff Utd v Tranmere

Fixtures tend to look extra difficult after a defeat though.

These would be the tactics employed in our last 2 games, and both ended in defeat. Let's hope he's seen enough to realise we aren't good enough to defend for 90 minutes.

Our managers generally seem to be defensive. Have we ever had one who tended to pick a bit too attacking teams?

Agreed, even Blackwell who was known for a direct style, prioritised defense first.
