I did think David Busst at first but thinking harder and it was Lee Hurst who "disappeared" from top flight football not long after

There's a fair few wingers in that picture. Think I count 7, but think a couple more could be as well.
Can't remember where Brightwell played exactly and the Middlesborough lad might have been one.
Very few defenders as well.

Brightwell was a midfielder, his mum, Ann Packer won the 800m in the 1964 Olympics. Kernaghan (boro) was a centre back

Coventry player is either Lee Hurst or Andy Pearce.

I was thinking that.

Question for anyone older than me:
When the breakaway from the Premier League was beginning to be formed there were a 'big 5' - Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton. In the summer of 88 these five plus Wendy, Villa, Forest, West Ham and Newcastle had discussed a breakaway league with ITV that fell through. In 1990 the big 5 came to some agreement with the FA and tv companies to press ahead with the split. In 1991 a total of 16 clubs signed up to join the new Premier League, which eventually became all 22 top flight teams.

Anyway the question is, were we one of the 16 or not?

That's only 21 players mate:D

There was a commercial for the Sky coverage that featured these players getting ready to take this picture - at one point Superpig and Bradshaw are wearing each other's shirts.

Fun fact - Bradshaw has played more Premier League games for United than anyone else.

Derek Dooley voted against having a Premier League when clubs Chief Executives were asked to vote but said "I am against having a Premier League, but if there is one, then we would like to be part of it"

First off, why is this not in 'Other Football and Sport'? It's not as if some sharp-eyed reader hasn't already put it in.:D

Derek Dooley voted against having a Premier League when clubs Chief Executives were asked to vote but said "I am against having a Premier League, but if there is one, then we would like to be part of it"

Thinking back to the 'United' documentary of 89-90, there was a bit where the Secretary - I think Capper (?) wanted Dooley to lay out the princely sum of £2k for pre-match advertising on Radio Hallam.

Acting in his best Hovis-advert, curmudgeonly style, Dooley basically said 'Tha' must be jokin', son. Nah get back dahn t'pit.' Pretty typical of Dooley.
