First of all I enjoyed the game today, took in a new view and with nothing riding on the match thought we played some good stuff against a poor Coventry team.

I was sat on my own today and i found myself looking towards next season and analysed the performance of the players on show. I thought I'd give my two penneth on who we should be looking to move out.

Ryan France - Seen very little of him but Blackwell must not trust him too much if he barely got a game even when our injury crisis was at its height (I realise he's been out injured the past few months). I believe he's contracted for next season so it may prove difficult getting rid of him. If a club is willing to take over his contract then I would happily part company with him, but on the other side if he stays i can't imagine he's on a lot relative to others. GOES

Gary Naysmith - I believe he's out of contract in a few months time and I think he said he accepts he would have to take a paycut to stay. Very fustrating for him this year as last season he was outstanding. I think realistically he won't cut down to what the club will want him to and I think despite his injury he will be able to get a better contract elsewhere so I would say he won't be here next season. GOES

Nick Montgomery - I have a feeling he may end up leaving despite all the emotional pressure Blackwell & Birch will put on him. I think it will come down to a Premiership club being able to offer him a better salary than we can. It will be a shame as I think he's been generally great since coming back into the team in Nov 08. GOES

Chris Morgan – Staying, little doubt of his commitment to the club and despite the fact he’s not getting any younger we need some continuity and a bit of soul about the club. I think he’s had quite a good year baring in mind the many different partners he’s had at CB. STAYS

Nyron Nosworthy – I think the club should do all they can to try and keep him next year, even if it’s a season long loan similar to Halford’s. He’s a very good defender at this level who has settled in very well and looks like he’s been here for years. Can play right back too with little hesitation. He’s had a one or two dodgy moments but if we’re looking at having a settled back 4 next season I think he could contribute towards that. STAYS

Darius Henderson – I like Henderson and think he takes a lot of unfair stick but the one thing that does piss me off about him is the way he gets involved in trouble during the game. There was even a time in the second half when he squared up to somebody. I was too far away from it to know what actually went on but with the fact we have literally two strikers up front, play that lot next weekend it is reckless to possibly get a sending off. I think he’s been sent off three times for violent conduct for us which is three times too many. That aside, he does lead the line very well and I do like him. However if an offer was to come in I would probably take it baring in mind his wages and probable decent transfer fee. GOES

Ched Evans – I don’t think the club will let him leave even if it’s due to sheer stubbornness, it would admit massive failure on Blackwell’s behalf. I also think he has a load of talent but i’m not sure it’s going to come out under Blackwell. STAYS

Mark Yeates – I don’t think there is much debate here, similar to the Evans one. STAYS

Lee Williamson – Rare bright spark in an otherwise poor year, similar to Morgan we must not sell him. Occasionally frustrated by injuries but has shown enough and is a good box to box player. STAYS

Ian Bennett – not sure what the deal is with his contract but if we’re looking at cutting back on wages then keeping a very old keeper who Blackwell has admitted is his number 2 and now won’t play him when the first choice is unavailable just smacks of a drain on resources unless he gets involved in coaching. GOES

James Harper – I think he’s on a good contract and although he’s shown sparks of his former glories I think if we’re having to cut back we need to be moving him out unfortunately. I expect next season will see his legs go even more. GOES

Andy Taylor – He worries me although I thought today was probably his best game for us. Very weak player at times who I think will be exposed against Wednesday. Blackwell must make LB a priority and go after a good solid experienced LB in the mould of a Callum Davison, just somebody who has been around a bit and who we can trust. Taylor will probably stay but I’d like him to go. STAYS

Richard Cresswell – No brainer, can’t see him going and he must stay, excellent player, i just hope he stays clear of injuries. STAYS

Jamie Ward – From a season ticket and morale point of view we must strive to keep Ward. Excites fans and is a very good prospect. My worry is that contract issues may cause problems. I think he deserves a new contract though as he was signed as a gamble from Chesterfield. STAYS

Jordan Stewart – Awful awful player who isn’t a left back, nor is he a left or right winger or midfielder, goalkeeper, centre back, right back striker or waterboy. Unfortunately he’s staying though as he’s crap and injured and contracted. STAYS

Marcel Siep – Initially impressed but seems to have gone a bit down hill, i’d rather we looked at signing a younger CB as cover. GOES

Kyle Bartley – Hopefully he will go back to Arsenal as I think although one day he may be a good player at this level at the moment he’s going to make tonnes of mistakes. GOES

Steve Simmonson – Excellent keeper and I wish we had him from the start of the season but bit of a no brainer here, we can’t afford to keep both Paddy & Simmo. GOES

Billy Sharp – Seems that if Blackwell is here he won’t be. Hopefully we’ll atleast recoup a good sum for him. GOES

Glen Little – Excellent player and I could watch him all day. I was umming and arring about him staying during the game. Part of me thinks that he is just too good to let go but the other says that he’s a knackered old dog at times who I imagine although not picking up an excellent wage is still baggage to a degree if he can’t play week in week out. I would say he will probably go. GOES

Derek Geary – Feel sorry for Del, been knackered through injuries and although we are struggling for cover at full backs unfortunately my head says his injury problems will continue until he retires. Sadly I think we need to cut him loose. GOES

Stephen Quinn – No problems with him staying, thought he was very good today but if an offer was to come in within the region of 1 million + then I’d probably take it and use it on other areas of the team but i don’t think that will happen. STAYS

Mihkel Akslau – Stays as back up to Number 1. STAYS

Paul Connolly – Not sure what the deal is with him at Derby but baring in mind we’re now shopping at Aldi as opposed to Waitrose I would snap him up in a shot and make him our first choice RB next season. Again, similar to Nosworthy, we need to make a solid defence next year and if we can get him signed up ASAP we can plan with a solid base. STAYS

Tony Kallio – GOES

Jonathon Fortune – GOES

Matt Lowton – STAYS

Henri Camara – Blackwell says he’s played his last game for the club, probably fair baring in mind his age and wages. GOES.

Paddy Kenny – STAYS

Kyle Reid - GOES

Ok, so for next season that leaves us with

Kenny, Akslau
Morgan, Nosworthy, Taylor, Stewart, Connolly
Yeates, Williamson, Quinn,
Evans Cresswell Ward
*Lawton (don’t know where he plays)
That’s 14 players and effectively 13 with Stewart crocked.
Time for a lie down.

Good post, are you going to stop pretending you don't care any more now? ;-)

Excellent stuff - you used the wrong word about Taylor next week though - 'exposed' should have been 'humiliated.'

Too harsh no doubt but I really do not rate him and I do rate Johnson, alot, when he fires, which is rare I admit, but Taylor will have no chance if he does.

Haha, maybe, i think now that we can start looking ahead to next year i can see a bit of a future for us. today was good though, and if anything is going to get me excited it's the prospect of sending Wednesday down next week.

Johnson played at centre forward today as he's tended to do under irvine
