Gig tonight so couldn't watch it live. Put it on as soon as I got home at 0105 mind. Not missing this. I'd seen the result at the end of the gig and was aware we were 0-1 down as we started so the surprise at us winning was a fucking joy.

Fabulous performance from us tonight. Real 'never give up' mentality, fuelled by a complete abandonment of Wilderball and sticking to basics - playing high up the pitch, pressing, pestering and wanting to win. Thank fuck for that. Every possibility with a performance like tonights - especially in the second half - that we could get a result out of Fulham and secure our PO place.

Okayit was men versus boys for most of it and QPR look discombobulated with their background turmoil. But we fucking won - away - when after that stunning save and the post hit, it looked like we were coming away with nowt and it all to do and wish for on the last day.

Some really, really improved outings today from a lot of players with it all to play for. QPR didn't deserve their lead (although credit to them for getting the better of our backline with just one chance) and very much against the run of play. Going in 0-1 down normally has us facing a half of graft and nowt to show from it and really we were profligate with our chances. It could have been a different story had they not struck the bar and scored obviously but we didn't give in. It was real win at all costs stuff and pleasing to see.

As said, although it was 5-3-2, we utilised the ball sensibly and made QPR work to keep it away from us. When we had it instead of lumping it we worked it forward to Ndaiye and MGW who made themselves a real fucking handful for their centrebacks. A bit of a nervy ending but I feel we managed the game well.

Onwards, with it all to win and play for. No excuses.

Foderingham 6.5/10: Spectator for much of the game but there when we needed him.
Osborn 7/10: Busy and involved. Worked well with the players around him with better determination not to be bullied
Robinson 8.5/10: Freeing himself of the C3PO label now. Great grit and fortitude and a splendid, deserved goal
Egan 7.5/10: Much better performance from him. Some key defensive headers, although in the opposition box he can't fucking head for toffee
Basham 6.5/10: Usual reliable stuff however drops a whole mark for being beaten by Austin for their goal. Was also our poorest centreback tonight. Got an assist though.
Stevens 6.5/10: He's still flagging a bit in places. Better performance though
Fleck 6/10: In and out of the game. Missed a great chance in the first half and had his pocket picked when free on goal to shoot
Norwood 8/10: Yep. 8/10. Great performance tonight. Crossing was good, tackling, positional work and no fucking hollywood/fancy dan shit.
Berge 7/10: Would have been more. Controlled much of the centre of the park and was difficult to dispossess but fucking hell man. What was that pathetic effort in the second half?
MGW: 8.5/10: Complete pest. Him and Ndaiye work so well together and his tireless running at, and for players and into space kept QPR hemmed in
Ndaiye 9./10: Tremendous. Developing back to be the key player we need. Deserved the goal, possibly more

Osula 7/10: Leggy and quick. Very Brian Deane. Shame he missed the chance he had
Hourihame 8/10: Just for that finish

HJ&SM 9/10: Half time talk fucking worked. Clearly we'd done enough to be in front and were behind. Nice gto see the team had been briefed to avoid all the usual shit - triangles and tippy tappy, hollywood balls and sitting deep (although we did get a bit 'pass it round the back' at the end of the first half) but the fire in their bellies in the second half was clear to see.

We now need to come out in front of a packed Bramall Lane now and eat Fulham up. Get at them, don't let them dominate and don't revert to Wilderball.

Such a great win blades! I was gigging too pomps and my lad was texting Me throughout. Feels great this morning to be 5 points clear and pressure on the other teams. No more injured players please blades.

Game much easier to watch when you knew the result. A real low point when we sputtered into half time. Credit to the lads for showing QPR up on the beach - ridiculous stats for most of second half. Robinson my Star Wars fantasy hero - great heart, unlike Berge who is simply nesh. Well done Hecky and the players for taking it to last game cant complain but then I’m a Sheffield Blade so likely going to anyway 😉

I reluctantly agreed to go and watch 'Downton Abbey' with Mrs G and a couple of friends at the flicks before we were moved to the Friday night.
I switched the phone off, told everyone, including my neighbour for when we got back, not to tell me the score.

11.15pm, sat myself in front of the box with a nice glass of red feeling proud of myself as I pressed play with no idea of the score.
Cue Mrs G on her way up to bed after a quick FB check, "I know the score" she said with a smile on her face.
Aaaaagghhhh!!
What does that mean? We've won because she smiled? We've lost and she wanted me to ask so she could save me from a disappointing night robbed of some much needed sleep?

I convinced myself we must have won....and then QPR scored.
My finger hovered over the fast forward button for a while and then I thought 'naaahh, we're playing well. Maybe we'll nick a draw'
Then that second half, and what a second half.
Needless to say the wine glass was topped and although completely knackered, went up at almost 2am with a hugely satisfying grin on my face.

Thanks for your take Pommps. Good stuff, as ever. UTB

Great Report. Great Relief. Great Result.
We should have done that last week when I was at Ashton Gate.

just to say think the mark for Bashams a bit low , hes just back from injury and was heroic in effort alone

the training ground diagonal reverse cross from berge and the fabulous return header by Bash to lay on Robinsons bullet header was everybit as worthy as Hourihane getting 8 just for his goal

to think now theres only 3 in there with outside chances to stop us , Millwall are way behind on gd and would need a miracle so its only 2
and Blackburn have to beat bournemouth
If Stoke get a draw at boro its all over for me

I was wondering how your report might go! - love reading it as always.

First half was "Wilderball" - second half was "Heckyball"

Great win, I just wish they wouldn't put us through the wringer!

Sorry, but I thought Osborn was really poor last night.
He is so one footed and passes it back more than Stevens.
Obviously a right footed player would be better, so why not Uremovich ?

Great report, I bet a certain person spat his Peroni when Robinson's bullet header hit the back of the net.
No gigging for me, more of a Cocoa these days.😞
