Morgan and Reid

Surely the official site wouldn't be daft enough to post quote form Britton this morning, saying how Reid's quality will help us over the next few weeks, if they know Reid won't be playing for a while............?

I'm with you on that one IOM.
There's no mention of any injury to Reid on OS.
Fingers crossed.

Shawcross stood next to Adebayor (also 6'3) here, looks similarish?

I think in this picture, Shawcross was wearing long studs and was stood on a very firm piece of turf. Adebayor had carpet slippers on and was on a particularly waterlogged area, into which his feet sank.
Honestly, can people really argue to such length as to how tall footballers are?

Going back to the Reid injury rumour, someone else on BM posting that he has tweaked, his hamstring, but not too bad and maybe ok for Saturday.

Where've I seen that before? I have Deja Vu from yesterday evening :D

As I said yesterday, I'd fully expect Reid to be in the squad, if not first team on Saturday. :D

Looks like we could be in for a long battle to stay in this league, Morgan is what SUFC are all about, without his leadership and no nonsense defending, we could find ourselves in a very awkward situation over the next few months. Lets see what GS has to offer, surely he has a few players up his sleeve who he will be looking to bring in, however things seem very different from the start of the season when McCabe & Blackwell said we would not be depending on loans this season.

How many is that now then? Calve? Reid? Bartley? Nosworthy? Already had De Laet? and were only 14 games in to the season. Typical United, False Promises.

Losing your captain at a time of crisis is never a good thing but we have more pressing issues IMO. The important thing now is not particularly who Speed brings in, its what he does with what he has.....

He needs to find a team selection that allows him to keep a settled and consistent side that can pick up enough points to stay up. Speed, Carver and Ellis need to sit down and work something practical out that will at least mean we can do the simple things competently.....even if that means lumping it to the forwards. Its all about survival now so forget about rebuilding the team until next summer.....no time for that at the moment.

We still have a choice of players who can 'do a job' as centre-back:
Bartley, Nosworthy, Ertl, Lowton

The question is - will they be good enough? Their lack of experience may be a problem, particularly if we are in a relegation dog-fight.

If we can develop a good young pairing, maybe Morgan's injury will be a blessing in disguise. He's not been at his best this season.

As I pointed out earlier in this thread, Lowton does not have the physicality [horrible word] to be a centre-back. Many Championship centre-forwards would eat him alive. Noz is not big enough - he's been a full-back most of his career and should stick to that.

We need to recruit, and fast. I can 'picture' Shawcross in our team. Can't you, Bergen?

I certainly think Ertl's best position is centre back. Did ok there against Cardiff and his attributes look more suited to it. He's a passenger in midfield and serves no purpose there.

I can only think Lowton has been playing centre back to toughen him up. It's a development regime I've seen United try with other kids in the reserves.

Bad luck foxy, the rumour was proved right!

Pity it wasn't at the time it was posted ;)

Not right bothered about being right or wrong to be honest...

Would prefer if Mr Reid had much chance of making a full appearance between now and when he leaves :(

I wonder if because of his injury we can't extend his loan by a further month to get him fit or Sunderland?

Everyone a winner?
