Warnock seeks free players

Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has still not given up hope of making more new signings.

Warnock was frustrated last week when he added just one new face to his squad on transfer deadline day in Colin Kazim-Richards, a £150,000 buy from Brighton.

Warnock this week ran the rule over Senegal international Khalilou Fadiga, who is still searching for a club after being released by Bolton at the end of last season.

The 31-year-old, though, has not been taken on by the Blades as he is understood to be short of fitness due to a lack of a pre-season training programme.

But Warnock is continuing to scour the market for out-of-contract players who can still be signed by clubs.

"The legislation allows us to sign those who are not attached to other clubs," said Warnock.

"We are always looking, and we will never stop looking. That is something we always do because you never know who is out there."

Centre-back Claude Davis has an outside chance of making his debut for United in this Saturday's Bramall Lane clash with Blackburn.

The Blades' £3million club-record signing from Preston during the close season has been sidelined since sustaining a knee cartilage injury in a friendly against Notts County on August 1.

Davis has since missed United's first three Premiership matches of the season, but recently returned to contact training, and may yet play some part against Rovers.

Actually Saudi Arabia is a VERY rich country, loads of high earning businesses and investors live there.

I had a thought about free agents after the transfer window closed and Newcastle got Bernard back in after it closed, so looking at free agents sounds a good idea, just as long as we don't bring Ashley Ward back in.
