Monty - Some Questions.

Monty is an easy target but had he actually gone on to improve his game over the years then I am not sure we would easily criticize him so much. Most of the players he started out with have moved on to better clubs or at least improved their game a bit.

I don't see why because he has been here so long he should now be immune to criticism and we should all have some sort of sympathy for him.

Anyway do I think a club will come in for him? Maybe but we would have to pretty much hand him over for nothing.

If he stays I doubt he will feature at all for us because I believe DW wants us to play football.

If no one wants him and he is not going to play for us much then by all means pay him off early.

Players not as good or dedicated have legend status amongst supporters, what a fickle bunch.
UTB!

Just a quick question then, who are these "legends of the Lane" who are not as good as Monty?

Hodgy, Joe Shaw, Badger, Woody, TC, Edwards, Deano, Brownie, Jags? That just about exhausts my legend list so I would be interested to know who the others are and how they are worse players.

As an aside, I do believe if you're going to play the "fickle" card you should be using "so called" when referring to the support. Might as well get it all into one sentence.

Agree with most of your list but not Brownie!, yes he was a good player who had one fantastic season!. Do not forget the disgraceful performances he gave when trying to force a move away from the Lane for that he should never be forgiven.

1. Brown was also good or very good in the 2000, 2001 and 2002 seasons. He did not come from nowhere.

2. Do you remember who replaced Brown in the team when he was sold? That's right, Monty. I seem to recall that we were in the playoff zone when this happened, and out of the playoffs by seasons end...

He was player of the year in 2001-02 and how he didn't win it in 2002-03 (Kenny did) will always be a mystery.

Don't know much about the in's & out's of a professional footballers development, from a young age, then leading up to a full time career, but surely a footballer wether, professional, amateur or just pub league ( that's me) should be able to fit into any style of play. I started of as centre forward in my early days and the job was to score goals, then you get a little older and find yourself in midfield, either linking play from defence to attack or a more defensive midfield role. And then eventually when the legs are starting to go moved to centre-half. But in all of these positions, if needed, I was able to tackle, pass a ball, generally get stuck in or show a little flair. Cannot understand all this bollox about Montgomery not fitting into a DW team, he's a footballer, not just a midfielder for Christ sake,,any footballer worth is salt should be able to play anywhere, maybe not as good as in their chosen position, but for fucks sake.

not the most hated player (that had to be terry curran) but certainly the most devisive

If there was a scale of excitement, with sharing a threesome with Cheryl Cole and Pamela Anderson at one end of the spectrum, then surely a Monty thread would be at the other.

i honestly dont know how every time this comes up "hes loyal" is mooted as a defence.

as a Monty slater, i can personally guarantee iv never said hes not loyal. but he is rubbish. the following are not defences against being rubbish

1. "he works hard"
2. "hes loyal"
3. "he scored our best goal this season"
4. "other managers have picked him" - to clarify, we've had some shocking managers and some shocking footy to go with it. the one time we start playing nice stuff, he doesnt get a look in. this isnt a coincidence.

i know all those 4 i mentioned are true. but he is still RUBBISH. thats the only reason we dont want him to play for us. he is not a United legend because he wasnt a great player.

Is this Pamela Anderson before she turned into Leather Face from Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Cheryl Cole before she turned into a right annoying twat?
