The change Tufty. made after the sending off of bringing on Coutts and moving Norwood onto the right of the midfield 3 seemed to me to give us a better balance with Coutts sitting in the deeper role. Norwood looked pretty dangerous further up field and for the second game in a row Fleck was back to his old self with driving runs and an assist for the third goal
IMO Duff again looked a bit out of sorts
Be interesting to see which three we start with at Wigan.

It’s difficult to say how well the Coutts change would have worked if the ref hadn’t evened it up. They were really giving us the runaround at 11 vs 10

It was encouraging however to see Coutts seeming to move around a bit more freely and he looks like he’s lost a bit of timber since his last cameo.

I’ve said anything we get from Coutts this season is a bonus seeing as he was still using a crutch in April.

If we hadn’t have lost Basham it wouldn’t have been too long before Duffy was pulled but it would have been Clarke coming on and Mcgoldrick dropping deeper.

Coutts Looking more like his old self is encouraging and with Dowell to come in we have options in how we play in midfield and not just rely on Duffy having a good day so much.

and not just rely on Duffy having a good day so much.

This is a good point. Duffy is one of those players who for me has a 9 or 10 in the ratings or a 4 or 5, doesn’t have a 6, 7 or 8.

When he has his 4 or 5 we have looked devoid of creativity, but McG has played that role well when asked and hopefully Dowell is the Brooks Replacement.

Teams often try and nullify Duffy as they know he makes us tick. The difference now is that we have McGoldrick and Dowell as other options. Can all play the no.10 role but with different attributes
