Wouldn't be impressed by this.. His PPM is pretty shoddy and his win percentage is 38 percent.. not for me this one.
Manages a low budget, over achieving team though....

Sounds familiar. Wonder how CW’s Premier League win percentage compares?

Translation:

"I've never heard of him, but I've Googled his stats and they're nowt spesh" 😁

(a joke, not a dig...I've never heard of him either)

Isn't that Biggsys co-host/fluffer on his Sheffield Live/YouTube show? The one who comes on half way through to read out Stocksbridge Park Steels ladies team scores and the latest Sheffield & District Badminton rankings.

The Sidekick Simon to Biggsys Poundshop Partridge.

Last season: 14/38 (36.8%). Both seasons: 18/66 (27.3%

Not as good as this fella’s stats then. Guy on the video says 14th placed budget but has finished top 10 each season during his time there.

Can see why we might be interested.

Works for the BBC. Guessing he does the biggs stuff to pad out a cv

In Wilder's defence he had the 20th highest budget (last season) and 19th (this season) and managed a 9th and a 20th place from that.

Never heard of him but sounds like he's had a decent managerial career. 58 so not up and coming like Blessin, but would be much happier with him than an Appleton or Robinson type. He's managed big clubs in France and seems to do so on a budget. Can see why we're interested. Much better than hearing the usual names "boast admires within the boardroom" by the Star! Decent work by Gregg, he always comes across well on Sheffield Live.

Win percentage has to be given context.

Sean Dyche has a win percentage of 36.84% but he's doing it at the top level and punching above his weight in doing so.

Neither Nantes nor Montpellier are anywhere near the biggest clubs in France at all.

First season at Nantes got them promoted in 2nd after a relegation. Sacked after only 3 matches the following season.

Managed tiny Clermont in Ligue 2 to 6th, 7th and 5th on a small budget.

Back to Nantes, got them promoted in 3rd and kept them up each of next 3 seasons.

Didn't do much at Reims then went to Montpellier, the other club he played for and finished as high as 6th.

Just paraphrasing wiki, but very respectable record. Not seemed to get anyone relegated. No idea his level of English. Seems to play many formations depending on the match - 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-1-4-1, 4-4-1-1, 5-3-2, 4-1-2-1-2.

Experience.
Managed on a tight budget.
Knowledge of the cheaper foreign leagues.

Has all the skills the board desire.
Source is named and reliable. Might stick a cheeky few pounds on this fella

14/1 on sky bet.
Got to be worth a tenner, truth is there’s 5....maybe 6 on the list. Hecky and Jokanovic and 4 others we can only speculate about. Here’s a quote that suggests they are also on the list, so all those who have odds nearly all of them aren’t even in contention. May as well go for one that’s at least in there, Hecky is out I reckon so you’ve got a 1 in 5 chance...so 14/1 is good value

Know nothing of the fella but after a short bit of research I stumbled upon an article published in The Guardian from last year which included the following uninspiring comments...

• Der Zakarian has always produced solid if unspectacular teams.

• Der Zakarian’s effective but defensive sides have often made obvious sacrifices in the way they play.

• Again, scoring goals was a problem. Reims scored 16 fewer goals than the club that finished directly above them in the table.

Although the headline focuses on recent positives, the main body of the article itself portrays Der Zakarian in the same way as his teams are described, solid if unspectacular and a stabiliser of clubs despite his more recent success with Montpellier. Aside from his latest role, a worrying common theme are the references to the lack of goals his teams have scored throughout his managerial career and his style of football previous to Montpellier - his former club president at Nantes so enraged by the teams performances over the season that he requested the stadium announcer to play music over Der Zakarian's farewell message to fans!

Just watched it back the video and presumably if Der Zakarian needed a translator to speak to Gregg then his English isn't great which may be a minus point over someone like Jokanovic, who of course has managed here before and speaks English.

Didn’t realise he was Armenian.
That makes all the difference.
Go for it.
